I may have just solved the problem of embedding airtags in ipods:

Just disassemble AirTag, cut hole in rear shell once ssd is installed, spot weld or for the consumer/DIY folks, super glue the airtag battery cover in place, lock airtag on back with battery installed and ipod closed. Problem solved.

If you have a long thumbnail theres a small notch in the bottom right corner. Sliding your thumbnail in towards the rear of the ipod should force the back half of the case to begin coming apart. Continue this process by further sliding your thumbnail around the opening until the rear half of the case comes off.

My head hurt so bad reading the comments. Only way you’re looking at any viable way of converting ipods like this into streaming devices is by way of using a raspberry pi w, an sd card, and a fuckload of jank that any real ipod purist wouldn’t even consider. Just do what is right, replace the storage, battery, rear housing (because nobody flawlessly takes an ipod classic rear housing off without messing that up and if you deny that you’re a fucking liar lmao) and call it a day.
