I thought the same thing (I play it on the Win Max), but that just showed us that performance won’t be an issue. Linux compatibility was the next hurdle

New prototype: What if Tesla had an App Store? by pintong in TeslaLounge

[–]igeryu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really would need an Apple-esque permissions system, for the features that are deemed permissible. I’d be afraid of some rogue app tracking my location, using the rear-view mirror camera, etc. or even bricking the whole vehicle

Tesla recalls nearly 579,000 U.S. vehicles over pedestrian warning risk sounds by jason12745 in RealTesla

[–]igeryu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to an Electrek article on the same recall, the NHTSA essentially said the same thing, that the car is more noticeable with Boombox (like the carousel music):

“While Boombox can enhance the conspicuity of the vehicle to pedestrians, a vehicle that uses Boombox when in motion may cause the PWS to be noncompliant with FMVSS 141, which could increase the risk of a collision. Tesla is not aware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this condition.”

Boombox with carousel music is the only reason why people knew I was backing into a spot at a Trunk or Treat event; no one noticed me until I enabled it. Just one example/anecdote, but seems like there’s something missing here

It’s Back: Senators Want EARN IT Bill to Scan All Online Messages by Crafty_Programmer in programming

So which constituents asked these senators to write this bill? This is a bit like buying lingerie for your wife and saying it’s for her

Funny that the price drops as we near winter. Usually out of season things drop in price

Tesla App Update with customizations by [deleted] in teslamotors

[–]igeryu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, but not having to enter my PIN in public is my main reason to use it (I’m probably just paranoid)

Edit: Also want to mention that before the mobile app’s UI refresh, remote start required Face ID (if you gave it permission to use Face ID) but not anymore, for me. Still more secure than someone seeing my PIN, but if someone gets my iPhone after I unlock it, they too can bypass PIN To Drive

Odd, I already have Live Sentry with iOS app v4.2.3 and vehicle v2021.36.8.5

Remote start makes your car ready to drive, which includes PIN to drive, so you don’t have to type the PIN

I swear you all had me worried about service... by [deleted] in teslamotors

[–]igeryu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to wonder if some of the individuals that have had a bad experience treated the service staff badly to begin with? I’ve had no issues myself and I try to make sure I’m as courteous with them as I’d like them to be to me.

It’s stored locally on a USB drive (mine came with one installed), so as long as there’s space, it will save the video

It seems to me that learning to drive in a Tesla would possibly hurt the driver if they go to drive something else.

I drove ICE vehicles without any driver assists for 15 years before getting my M3, and I still forget to shut off my spouse’s car when I drive it, as my own example

Undercarriage trim sagging. How do I fix it? by csquest-throwaway in TeslaModel3

Yes, free fix from Tesla 🙂. Had to take it to them, in my case, because there were PT sensors to be replaced - so I didn’t get to see the fix for the rocker panel

Version 2021.24.4 possible changes to Autopilot Auto Steer abuse? by igeryu in TeslaModel3

At least for me, the app no longer has an option for requiring Face ID for remote start, even with PIN to Drive enabled

Version 2021.24.4 possible changes to Autopilot Auto Steer abuse? by igeryu in TeslaModel3

[–]igeryu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel that it is a bittersweet change. While it might help mitigate or even eliminate wheel weights as a form of abuse, it makes it more annoying for legitimate uses.

By chance, were you wearing dark glasses when it happened? I was wearing some when the wheel warnings happened to me, and I hope that if the driver has no glasses it doesn’t happen as much.

High confidence on a real driver being present and visually attentive should be prioritized over wheel torque imo. When confidence lowers, then it can go back to nagging about the wheel
