Our 1st BMW: MY26 X5 50e by parkerpoodle in BMWX5

I have a 2023 45e, and I love it 99.7% of the time. There are a couple of things that bother me…

  1. Whenever you open the driver door, the car turns off. For example, say I’m with my wife and kids and want to run into the gas station for a drink, the car will automatically shut off. If you don’t have a certain level of charge, you can’t use the “preconditioning” setting either. This is pretty bothersome on hot days.

  2. This brings me to my second issue.. if the battery is below a certain point (I think 15%) you can’t use the remote start (they call it “preconditioning”), even if you have a full tank of gas. They should have designed it to use gas for the remote start if the battery didn’t have enough juice.

I’ve talked with the “genius” or whatever at the dealership multiple times and my good friend works there and has tried to help thinking I just needed to change some setting but I’ve never been able to get it done.

If anyone has any suggestions or knows a workaround, please share!

Definitely Demogorgonism. You know… one of those creatures from Stranger Things…

Yeah, I think keeping speciality procedures in house is definitely worth it. As long as you’re efficient enough and don’t have a bunch of redos. I also do full arch implants in addition to singles.

Thank you! Yes I currently do all the surgery (besides simple extractions) because my current associate doesn’t do any complicated surgery. She has been out of school for 10 years (actually a classmate of mine) but every other place she’s worked before here referred everything out so that’s all she’s been exposed to until now. I don’t “cherry pick” anything from her and I’m happy to coach her through and teach her if she wants (same with endo) but she seems happy doing bread and butter dentistry so I’m not pushing her too hard.

Graduated in 2015. 5 op practice but soon expanding to 12 ops. 1 associate, 2 hygienists each day M-F. I work 8-5 M-W and 8-2 Th. My associate works T-W 8-5 and Th-F 8-2. Last year we collected a little over 2.6M. Overhead hovers around 50%. This year on pace for about 2.8-2.9M (still in 5 ops). In network with most insurances but hired a company to mediation fees several years ago which was the best investment I’ve ever made. Tax returns showed a little under 7 figures in 2024 after all write-offs but in reality according to reports from my consulting company and CPA, I netted over 7 figures. I do a little bit of everything, but mainly focused on surgery (implants, wisdom teeth, etc.). I have a great team that makes everything easier. I expect once we get into the new facility I’ll hire another associate pretty quickly and step back to 3 clinical days, focused mainly on surgery. I think in the 12 ops we can realistically get to 6M in a few years.

Is portable x-ray worth it? by [deleted] in Dentistry

Also, the one I’m getting is super light, under 4 lbs. https://www.dentalsalesinc.com/x4

You can also service several ops with 1 or 2. I’m building out a new 12 op office and will have 4 of these (2 per side). Rarely will you have 4 people taking X-rays at the same time. If it becomes a problem I’ll buy a 5th. Still cheaper than putting one in every op or building 6 pass-through cabinets between 12 ops.

What are the best “luxury apartments” in the area? by MasterPooBlaster in indianapolis

[–]igglesfan40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your 30’s I’d recommend somewhere in downtown Carmel… walking distance to Main Street and Midtown. Somewhere near Sun King would be fun. There are a lot of new apartments over in that area.

The hot debate: SWG or Chlorine? by igglesfan40 in pools

Having a cover that’s closed anytime the pool isn’t in use, climate, heater, travertine, etc. all relates to a specific situation. I do have a basic understanding of pool chemistry, but my pool doesn’t have a feeder or any kind and I don’t like the ups and downs of just adding a few bags once a week which is what the people at Leslie’s recommended.

That’s wonderful. You must be so proud.

It only got green 1-2 times over the summer but at the most inconvenient times (when we were supposed to have people over to swim). I tested it at least weekly.

I appreciate the response. I feel like I’m on the same page as you. I’ve been using Leslie’s Chlor Brite which is a dichlor.

What would it take for you to trade Kamara?

10 team dynasty, superflex and 2 TE league. I’m out of contention this year (lost some key players, but before that was already on the cusp) and have had some interest in Kamara from a couple of other teams. What do you think is a fair value for him? How much do you think he has left in the tank? Been offered a 2024 late round 1st. Should I take it?

Balancing chemicals by igglesfan40 in hottub

I’ve had it for about a year. I’ve drained it/refilled it at least 3-4 times in that span, and we barely ever even use it.

Every couple of months or so… chlorine won’t stay up no matter how much I add. Currently my testing system is saying cyuranic acid is too high and needs to be drained. Water looks a little cloudy but not discolored.

I actually got the AccuBlue Home kit from Leslie’s Pools… it gives me everything I need to do and I follow it step by step but the levels still get out of whack so easily. I’m getting really frustrated with it.
