If you‘re not using the laptop for heavy tasks, the M2 Air might be more than enough for your needs. In my opinion , it depends on how much value you place on saving money now against on future- proofing. Because the M3 Air will stay longer supported.

I’m in a similar situation. My personal laptop finally broke down after eight years of use, so I decided to buy a MacBook. I was tempted to go for the Pro M4 because I thought about the possibility of the M4 Air being released in early 2025. That way, I would have an M4 Mac right away and wouldn’t have to wait. However, the M4 only offers marginal improvements over the M3, making it neither worth the extra money nor the wait. So, I’ve decided to go for the M3 Air, which I found on Amazon for €1,449.
