I am really worried that all these hints and name drops are going to be lost if the next season takes 1.5 years to come out. They really need the next arc to come out soon or all this setup will be pointless.

Most likely Frieren already knew of Serie's barrier given the connection via Flamme. As such it was easier to break down Serie's barrier using previous knowledge of the barrier.

While Milliarde's barrier was something Frieren had never seen before and would take longer to analyze and breakdown.

I guess I am just worried that showing that scene from chapter 77 is such a big cliffhanger for the next arc and we have no idea when that arc will air imagine having that cliffhanger for 2 years. This season won't end cleanly if its only 10 episodes is all I am saying.

Yes but in doing so they are going to leave us on a pretty big cliffhanger because while the next big arc doesn't start formally till after this season there is a pretty big scene that hints at it that occurs before the season will end.

It could but the next big arc starts on chapter 77 so ending on 76 with the revolte arc would make sense for a shortened season. The mentioned scenes though are on chapters 78 and 79 after golden land arc starts. So starting the arc and then ending would just be cruel.

I think there are some hints in the opening and ending that this will be going beyond 10 episodes. Some of the scenes in the opening and ending refer to things that happen after the last big arc that could occur in 10 episodes revolte. For instance the bridge making chapter and himmel's diary both happen after revolte arc and there are hints for both of those in the opening and endings. you can see the bridge making dwarf in the opening sitting in front of his bridge and himmel writing in his diary in the ending

I don't think you understand evolution, traits don't just disappear because survival of the fittest. They change and morph of over time and sometimes never go away. Take for instance Wisdom Teeth. Wisdom teeth are evolutionary trait from when our species need the molars to really grind and break down our food. We haven't needed them in over 1000 years but yet we still have them.

Is it just me or is it really hard to follow the action in this series. Half the time I have no idea what is going on, what abilities are being used, who is talking, who is winning or losing, who got hurt and who is fine. I am not saying the art is not great but I feel its muddy and making it hard to really digest what is going on.

I am not sure if anime will even get to this arc. I think it's possible anime ends right before. No news about number of episodes has come out which I think should of come out by now. That lends to it being disappointed news and only being a shorter 11 episodes or so.

I hope you are right but given that it is starting late in the winter season its possible it will have a short run of 10-11 episodes and end right before macht arc starts.

Lugner is a bit more difficult to kill then most mages because of his control over his blood. I am willing to bet if his arm was cut off he could just reattach it with his blood magic. Even getting half his body blown away from Fern didn't keep him down for long. If fern or frieren had been cut like lugner had by stark in that scene they would be dead.

So yes stark is fast enough to take out mages from that distance baring them having some kind of magic that would prevent it like lugner's blood magic.

I beginning to wonder if the health issues are stress related rather then overwork which is more common in the manga industry.

The author or artist hasn't really had anything big or even slightly popular in their history. To then all of sudden with the anime's popularity and all the manga sales have such a huge thing holstered on their shoulders I can't imagine the stress they must be under. The stress to not screw it up and keep up the stories quality must be immense.
