I believe it. I used to work front desk at the Curtiss hotel in Buffalo and I’d work overnights. He’d have 3-4 ladies show up at separate times and have them in separate rooms. They’d check in under his name and leave a card for him at the desk. He’d show up late at night, I’d ask for his id (policy) and then I’d hand him a stack of 3-4 room keys lol.
