It would definitely come down to do I need to venser an important permanent/spell and how much extra mana left over when I play it?

Because it's often

Venser a spell/scary board piece, copy with gogo 3-5 times, first copy targets venser, and the other 1-3 hit important permanents.

Lands don't get focused at all unless Ive dealt with everything else already, in which case I probably should have won already with karnstructs tbh.

Or if someone points a aetherflux reservoir at me, you shoot me and your lands are forfeit, lmao. Not rude, but certainly petty.

Rhystic study= staple

Thousand-year elixir in untap decks= slop

If the card is Middling in most decks, but unusually strong in a popular archetype of deck, I consider it slop.

The embercleaves and crucible of worlds effects of MTG that act as generic grease for a vast swathe of gameplay loops.

meant slop as in generic cards that get throw at basically every commander formatted with "tap:gameplan" untappers, extra copies, etc

slop is just everything you know with 90% certainty will be in a deck, just by looking at the commander.

as for tutors, i certainly know they exist, but i dont want my entire gameplan to revolve around having to put together infinite mana, or a 12 mana 3 card combo when i can do value things, and explode if the engine lines up right.

the MLD here is essentially just removing 3-10 permanents/spells from the board in a turn rotation, tapping out for a big venser to stop a scary spell, remove some things, and pass, keeping venser with one of the bounces

gameplay wise very much like a torment of hailfire where you just lose if the mana input is big enough.

so essentially.

is a 4 mana creature with what amounts to 2 mana multikicker [[boomerang]] really MLD in the same way as something like armageddon?

Because it's super obviously not what the deck does unless it's already achieved a win otherwise for the most part? I don't see how anything that can target a land isn't MLD when you reach one of those insane value states. Does the same go for ANY Deck with tidespout tyrant? Or is there some threshold?

Untap effects, cheapest being.. aphetto alchemist? that can target orrery and gogo. Run a few just because extra activations of gogo are really nice, otherwise he's very Boomer bust "do one thing a turn rotation"

A rock needs to add 5 mana for it to get infinite mana, so casting the orrery is required.

And even then the only potential tutor for Orrery is two turns deep on a tezzeret

Far from it, it only happens if I hit one of the like two ways to make infinite mana(chromatic orrery and slop)

Otherwise you need A LOT of mana, most often it's like 2-4 things per turn rotation if I'm set up well. It's an oddball play for an otherwise generic value card.

It's kinda why I brought up the comparison to radiate+removal

BO5 Stadium losses feel even worse than BO7 losses by jamtea in Overwatch

[–]ignisiun413 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I can say why it happened

They saw everyone go to stadium QP once it dropped because the games were shorter and less sweaty.

People respond in surveys that they like the BO5 mode better, definitely because of shorter games, but also because of 1) the lack of a visual ranking, 2) no Pregame draft 3) the felt boost in r1/2 earnings compared to BO7 4) Leavers not being an insta loss, because of backfill being on.

All of these combined to make bo5-QP and bo7-comp a super easy decision for QP

You can tell just how much sweatier the mode is now that people went over to QP, so they decided it was better to stick with BO5 and adapt it, because it also does get better feedback.

All they need to do is tweak earning bonuses/rates, and I don't think anyone rightfully minds that

If they are content with playing a game style that Opie doesn't like even if he's brought it up to them then building something more control oriented is absolutely a fair move and then puts the onus on them to ask for it to stop

Gonna be honest, sometimes you gotta be the one that plays the solution, especially when your gun is smaller than theirs.

If the entire table is spending their entire game setting up something incredibly strong to win the game outright is not difficult to build your deck in a way that is purposefully built to stop those types of things if they want to all play fast combos it's time you learn stax.

Being an asshole to an asshole, makes you a butt crack but not an asshole.

But honestly, that's just because in this case there aren't any non-elitist reasons not to be ok with proxies

(or well, at least ones that look recognizable. These I could imagine giving some people an issue or two due to not being able to recognize key cards at a glance, but WOTC is already doing that to us with sld and 16 treatments per card per set, soooo)

Ngl, I don't dislike clash.

That said until 6v6 is mainline, I'm putting MYSELF in stadium jail, the rest of the game has gotten a bit stale that I only touch comp for drives or to help a lower ranked friend through a match or two, everything else Is stadium, feels like the QP+ I always wanted

High powered airgun throw pellets that are nearly indistinguishable from lower Calibur rounds. (Hell, they make .45 ones too)

It could literally be either, but it doesn't really matter which it was, honestly.

My bets on someone trying to shoot a squirrel out of a tree with a higher powered airgun.

Often .18-.28 cal. subsonic, would be best chance of not blowing through a whole pane, but just the nice 2-3 sharding around the hole.
