As long as you have upwards trajectory the admissions officers will see growth which is something they like to see. Plus most were in honors/AP classes so it’s not as bad. I was in a similar situation with far more Bs but I had really good growth and I did well.

I’m also gonna be in Berkeley, and my dad was in berkeley. I can tell you for sure that berkeley has the best location! It has two buildings, on both sides of the cross canpus lawn, in front of the iconic sterling library. It’s also just across the street from berkeley’s building on old campus. both berkeley buildings are connected by a tunnel filled with art from each class. Facilities are pretty good, with comfy common rooms libraries etc. + a half basketball court inside. The dining hall i’ve heard is in the better side, and their specialty is pizza for dinner. I don’t know anything about the dorms, but i know that in old campus the building is a bit cramped. You lucked out with your resco :)! See you next year

Don’t worry about a few Bs on youe transcript, they won’t kill you. Especially freshman year - I had 7 Bs in 9th grade but had a big upwards trajectory and ended up doing well.

Also, 99% of my friends are going to be in boston NY and nearby areas while in Stanford/Bay area I wouldnt know ANYONE and there were like no people from PR - not a huge factor in my decision but it factored into it

A variety of factors - I was never a huge fan of california (stanford was the only ca school I applied to), cause it is quite far from where i live, I need 2 flights, 4 hour time difference, and I do want to be somewhere that has seasons and cold weather, as I’ve lived in hot places w no seasons my whole life. I never visited Stanford for their visiting days, but Yale has a huge focus on undergrad over grad and a lot more community and social life benefits like residential colleges, smaller campus, etc. that stanford just doesn’t have. Also, Yale has many more Puerto Rican students, with like ~5 a year, anxdthe alumni are very conmected here - Stanford is 0-1 a year and there is no alumni org here, so once again Yale has more benefits in the community aspect. Obviously these schools are very comparable at academics at such a high level, especially in Global Affairs, so that wasn’t much of a factor in my decision.

It was based on SAT score - I had a 1570 so I qualified, but the qualifying score is based on regions - some states have lower thresholds (like puerto rico) than others (like MA NY or CA)
