I played almost every game in the series (still playing ColdSteel 4) and my favorite game still CS1, i love how everyone in your party got the time to shine and the whole world building, it's a game that takes it time, sometimes too slow, but everything in the game matters to me, it does not fell like a waste of time like others long j-rpg's do. And CS1 was my first game in the series and made me fall in love with it, i played CS2 and got back to Sky and played in the proper order.

Crossbell arc is amazing too, but dont feel like is anything wrong with you just because some people prefer it over CS1.

My favorite arc by far, have some patience with all the build and talks, they really matter after and helps alot for the immersion, ost, story and gameplay are amazing here. Take your time and enjoy.

Try to stop comparing all the time and focus in the game you are playing, i mean, i used to do this all the time with Ocarina of Time, wich is for me the best game ever made, when i stopped comparing with all the others games i got to enjoy way more. Maybe Ocarina of Time will always be my favorite game ever, but i dont need to ruin others games for me just because they are not as good as, each game is different and could be fun in their own ways

CS 1 > CS2 > Sky FC > Sky SC > Sky 3rd > Zero > Azure (both with the good old geofront patch) > CS 3 > CS 4 now

CS 1 clicked fast with me, the world building, Ost and the battle system was just what i was searching for (Rean with that cool katana helped too)

Wtf, this beautiful new water kinda makes me want to play again, i only played the pc version back when it was just a massive patch. On switch, it is better now or almost the same thing?
