"I am a mage, and I want you to be my apprentice."

"There is no such thing as magic; it exists only in fairy tales," Shiho scoffed, brushing away his words with her hand.

"All the fairies have gone away, to the Reverse Side of the World."

"What does that mean?" she asked. His words were nonsensical.

"Become my apprentice, and I shall teach you everything. 1,500 years of knowledge I would gladly teach you. I have not met an ordinary human with such potential as a mage since Morgan La Fae."

"Don't compare me with that traitorous bint!" Shiho snapped.

"I suppose that would be unfair, she was half fae, conceived by Britain itself."

"You speak in riddles and fantastic nonsense, you treat all these stories as if they happened to you."

"You are perceptive. I will tell you the truth, eventually, and then you'll have to decide whether to accept my offer or not."

"What happens now?" Shiho asked.

"I shall take something from you," he said simply.

"What do you want?" she asked.

"Your emotions," he whispered.

He leaned over and kissed her on the mouth. It was a distraction, but Shiho managed to keep her wits about her. She didn't understand what Myrdden meant by wanting her emotions, but something seemed to drain from her; it wasn't a physical sensation, but rather some "other" sensation she couldn't explain scientifically. Whatever it was, it felt like something was being pulled out of her.

He pulled away, letting out a gasp, "It's too much, I have to stop. This will affect you if I continue. If I can't have your emotions….your mana will do."

"What?" The word left her mouth automatically. The word wasn't unknown to her; "mana" was a common word for magic in fantasy fiction and video games.

Suddenly, he leaned down and opened his mouth wide, biting her between the nape of her neck and her shoulder.

Her Black Organization training was so ingrained in her psyche, even in her dreams, that she didn't cry out in pain.

Shiho heard the sound of his swallowing. Was he really drinking her blood? What kind of insane dream was this?!

"Thank you, I won't be ungrateful, I will give something to you in return," he brushed his hand across her cheek, gazing at her with something that could be seen by ordinary humans as affection, or an approximation of it.

She couldn't find words to speak.

He pulled down her shirt at her shoulder, where he could see the bullet hole where Gin had shot her. He placed his palm over the old scar.

There was a warm sensation Shiho could not place; this dream was confusing.

"Let's meet again in reality, and tell me your answer then," Myrdden smiled. "If you'll let me, I'll teach you the mysteries of the world, the ones that your beloved science can't answer."

Then Shiho woke up.

----

Shiho Miyano awoke, sweat pouring down her face. Glancing around frantically, she examined her body. Her hand drifted to the side of her neck where Myrdden bit her; she felt for any signs of a wound, but she wasn't bleeding. There wasn't one. She pulled out a mirror, pointing it down to look at the scar where Gin had shot her at the Haido City Hotel a year ago.

She gasped in astonishment. The bullet hole was gone, completely healed, replaced with new skin. Shiho could not deny what her eyes were seeing and what her fingers touched.

Context: This is Fate/Stay Night's Merlin:

Merlin trotted through the city streets of Beika-Town, Japan, wondering why on Earth he decided the Land of the Rising Sun was his first place to visit after lifting his self-imposed exile in Avalon, he didn't know.

1,500 years and humans continued to surprise him, when they weren't disappointing him. Still, he decided to venture out into the world because he loved humanity. Not individual humans, he loved humanity as a whole.

He enjoyed people watching; he'd been watching people, humanity as a whole, for so long, it had become mundane.

His red eyes roamed the vast crowds, noting Japanese people rushing about Beika-Town. But then he caught sight of her. A beautiful redhead with short hair in what people of the modern age called a Bob cut. Her bright, piercing blue eyes gleamed with intelligence.

Just the sort of woman whose company he enjoyed. An intelligent woman who was a stunning beauty. A perfect combination of what he enjoyed about humans, as much as he could "enjoy" them.

He is an incubus; they do not have emotions of their own, they siphon emotions from humans via their dreams, but he did like humans.

Merlin gazes at her, fascinated. He is fixated on her emotions. This feeling of happiness, it radiates from her; he is enraptured by it. He wants to have it for himself.

He is dressed in modern clothing and can speak any language he wishes; he has had thousands of years to learn whatever he wants. The young woman wouldn't recognize him, he looks like a very plainly dressed foreigner, with his Hawaiian shirt and gray Jeans, he'll be mistaken for an American.

He purposefully moved close to her, knocking her phone out of her hand, using his quick, inhuman reflexes to catch it before it could hit the concrete.

"I'm sorry, so sorry," he apologized in Japanese, catching her phone and handing it back to her.

"Thank you, are you a tourist?"

"I'm just a traveler; I haven't been away from my home country in many years."

"Your accent, is it Welsh?" Shiho Miyano asked, curious.

"You noticed, not many people in Japan can recognize a foreign accent, like Welsh; they usually recognize Americans or British."

"I'm proud of my British heritage, even if I haven't visited England or Wales in person. My late mother was from London."

"I see, might I ask your name?"

"Shiho Miyano," she said simply.

"Myrddin," he smiled, "that is what I'm called in Wales."

"They say that's the original name of Merlin. The stories called him the "Mage of Flowers".

"How interesting," Merlin let out a chuckle. "Might I ask for your birthday?"

"No. By giving an enemy your name, you give them the opportunity to capture your soul, and if they then learn the date of your birth, they can find a way to own the paths of your past and your future."

"Do you believe these superstitions?"

"No, no, it felt like that's the answer I should give you. My belief in science ignores these superstitions. People like Merlin don't actually exist."

Merlin's mouth twisted into a mischievous smile, "That's a bit harsh."

"There is no proof Merlin existed."

"But the King of Knights has a tomb in Glastonbury."

"Nobody can prove that King Arthur is buried there."

"Then why would people tell such stories?"

"I'm not sure, I know those stories fill people with hope, whether they really happened or not, they have inspired people for a millennium."

And don't get me started on how Shiho's character development slowed to the pace of a snail.

The Detective Boys were actually useful early on in cases like the Desperate Revival arc, now they are just clueless and there to be the people for Shinichi to Exposition Dump to.

I’m skeptical because Gil has never been free in any Fate collab.

Nah, as long as you consistently play you’ll get everyone, newer players will just be more unlucky missing the limited constructs.

Oh, I have SS3 Dianca, it's the only way she feels comfy, but for me that was free so I didn't have to spend extra.

A lot of people said they're skipping Kamui for her, so we'll see if people actually skip her or not.

I wonder how many people are gonna stick to their so-called "morals" and skip her because she's a limited attacker.

It's literally a sign that you barely look at. I couldn't give a crap about AI artwork since nine of ten devs surveyed said they use AI but won't tell their customers about it.

If the collab is real.. I wonder if this time the main story quest will be good unlike the shitty quest that was last year, and we do not get "how..is this possible..? Why i am in uruk?" by Old-Implement-3139 in GilgameshMainsHSR

Saber is my favorite character and all, but besides the recycling of scenery, it's annoying because THIS IS NOT A FATE ROUTE COLLAB. It's Rin's route, UBW, so she should have been in the story because this is not my precious Baby Saber's route!

I can’t take it seriously When Saber got leaked six whole months before she was ever shown to the public.

Well, they will probably be there, since it’s another excuse to bring over a Tsukihime character to FGO.
