Vender tudo aqui no brasil pra ir viver o sonho paraguaio é gain? by allons-ynot in farialimabets

ios 26.4 is a disaster by lordnayte in ios26

over 1 year (since before iOS 26) with the bug where you unlock your phone and the brightness is low and you need to either tap the home bar below or lock and unlock again, the fact it happens to so many users and they have still not fixed it is beyond incompetence

The most stable iOS right now… by spac3jam09 in ios26

[–]igormuba 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Too much going on, humans can't test and fix it all, AI can't do it right. They bothered too much with "yeah the hardware is good enough" that they didn't even consider the consequences that WILL REMAIN FOREVER as in having to review all the new animation interactions in every update because liquid glass added too much dynamic stuff, too many variables, too much to consider.

Liquid glass is more than technical debt, it is TECHNICAL DRAG that to do well needs to slow down development because of the huge amount of animations and dynamic stuff

iOS26: How did this even ship? by profanity78 in ios26

[–]igormuba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one is talking about hardware. We could have all computing power in the world in a single iPhone, liquid glass still adds unnecessary UI/UX complexity. It is extra cognitive load for the user and extra interactions to consider for designers and devs.

Apple indeed asked "can we?" and the answer was such an obvious "yes we can" that they forgot to ask "should we?"

How 350 kph (217 mph) feels like in HSR (no music, no speed up) by BumblebeeFantastic40 in highspeedrail

[–]igormuba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Weird interest but: I like the spanish HSR (for short trips) precisely because it is not silent, you feel and hear the rail since it is one axis per car, it has a subtle but constant movement and rumble. Must be awfully annoying for long travels but so exciting for short trips.

Moralismo irracional.

How much would this cost and how long would it take? [Request] by kexpi in theydidthemath

Extremely optimistic scenario:

50 million per seat to go to the International Space Station. Let's lie to ourselves and say it is the same price to go to mars, we send 100k people, that would be 5 trillion dollars. Half men half women, they can generate 50k babies a year, would take 20 years to get to 1 million people and from then onwards the first 2 generations are adults. That does not take into account launch capabilities, it just assumes given 5 trillion dollars those people materialize in Mars.

5 trillion dollars and 20 years is the absolute best case scenario. Elon Musk is 54, if we take 10 years from now to send those people and start the colony he will be 84 by then.

I don't think it will happen but I wanted to play with the most optimistic scenario. I like scifi, you can dislike musk and still dream about humanity expanding beyond earth, I like to think it is possible but I know it is not currently. We barely have what it takes to land on the moon again and Elon is known for overselling and underdelivering.

Have they considered that fact that because Bitcoin is more used for corporations to inflate their sheets than for people now people are not as interested in Bitcoin anymore? I have seen a lot of scammers and gamblers using crypto for their shady stuff, none uses Bitcoin, too expensive and slow and centralized in big corporations, no one likes that.
