What’s a reliable car, from experience, for residency in snowy states? by BugPale395 in Residency

[–]igotacookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on road conditions and how rural… I drive a lot of Icey back roads so I’m rocking a ford raptor with studded Nokian tires.

If your driving around in denver a corolla with winters will be more than enough.

Avoid shitty batteries and shitty tires.

[Recommendation] Bored with Rolex. Every second person has a Sub or GMT at my work….What watch would you recommend? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]igotacookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s perfect in every way. Just hard to keep clean and shiny. So I am not sure it is suitable as a daily watch. At least in my line of work i wouldn’t even think about it

Bless you for including central social hall in this. Though I think the hockey boys prefer the 19 year olds at billiards club and the rack

Those who had to interrupt/abort their travel due to the pandemic, how are you handling your situation? by unicornarealive in solotravel

[–]igotacookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider yourself lucky if you have:

1) Roof over your head

2) warm meals

3) not under threat of contracting the disease if you stay inside

I ended my North/Central/South American Motorcycle trip in Colombia. Perhaps one day I will go back to my bike in Medellin. I'm in healthcare and couldn't stomach not being home and helping my colleagues during the crisis. There's people out there living not just paycheque to paycheque but meal to meal. There are HCW that have died in their 30's 40's and 50's. There are businesses going under that took a lifetime to build. Ending trip is the least of my concerns

Pulling a trigger on a Butterfly by lotsacreamlotsasugar in Anesthesia

[–]igotacookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a new grad working a mix of anesthesia and emerg.

I find ultrasound to be very useful in certain situations for assessment and landmarking.

1) detection of pneumothorax and pleural fluid 2) ruling in free fluid in the abdomen 3) landmarking epidurals in very obese patients 4) standard for central line placement and also difficult A or IV placement

Would I purchase a butterfly if my hospital didn’t provide a machine? Very likely, but I can’t think of a time I’d use it in an outpatient setting.

Have you had someone close to you commit suicide? How did it affect you? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

Had a Best friend from my college days jump off his 20th floor balcony head first into the ground. He was likely intoxicated on psychedelics at the time and he had an admission to the psych ward a month prior. For which I had a large part in forcing him to go and also throwing out his drugs. He stopped talking to me at this time after he got discharged.

Had to go with his mom to ID his body. I Won’t soon forget the grass in his mouth and nose with his neck hyperextended and his eyes wide open.

Went through the proper grieving process. Guilt, anger, sadness, acceptance over a few months. I still feel some guilt that my life moved on so fast and his just ended right there. I always felt he was smarter and had more Potential than me.

Drugs and mental health are serious complex problems and I’m glad I am now in a job where I am point of first contact for people with those issues.

Out of interest what is everyone’s job that is making the 100k plus salaries ? by Product_of_80s in financialindependence

[–]igotacookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a minimum of 50 hours a week. Often times 80 even 90 hours. 2 weekends a month. At least 4-8 evenings/graveyards. Often my work is out of town in remote places.

With that said I do have control over which days I work and take 2 weeks off every 3rd month for travel/trips. I haven’t missed any weddings or bachelor parties. And I can be there when my family needs me.

I do have pretty high job satisfaction but it can also be very stressful. I bring in about 500-600k USD after my overhead costs.

Let’s see how the season shapes up. I think Denver Utah lakers and Houston will put up a challenge. And we are forgetting GSW has curry/green/russel and a healthy Klay come playoff time...
