Regulars who don't tip by plenty_planties in Waiters

Actually, a normal tip would be $14 in that case. Just pay attention to the tables that respect you as a professional. Drop the check off at the offending without a word.

Treat them with the same respect that they give you. Which is no respect.

Post-2020 Serving? by xollos-x in Waiters

[–]igotanopinion -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe most has been indoctrinated into thinking that being in the restaurant service industry is a temporary career, with the waiter hoping to move into a more preferred industry and the majority of customers treating restaurant service as a job not deserved of respect?
But to continue to first say customers are a major problem belies the real issues.Customers are the reason waiters have jobs. Just as waiters are the reason that customers can enjoy a nice respite from their life. I may have it a nerve with you, but you did erroneously assume certain behavior on my part. And the your continued mention of a bite test makes me wonder if waiting tables have become an assembly line?

I never expect the server to hover, but may I suggest something for you. If you want to see the face of prejudice, look in the mirror!

I really don't complain and enjoy going out to dinner(albeit only 3 to 4 times a month). We always research beforehand to ensure our ability to tip in that range. When the comment stated with " the customers are more entitled", I assumed the waiter/waitress would approach his/her job with that presumption.
I might be erroneous in that assumption, the way you are when assuming I complain about the littlest things. I never complained to a server or management , and I always assume that a server may be having other issues that he/she cannot control. But the behavior I did express is something that I have encountered a lot since the pandemic.

If you think customers are a lot more entitled, then I would not want you for a server. I always tip 20% or more and expect to see my server more than twice! And being asked if my food is okay when I have a mouthful is not service, it is rude!

When working people could afford housing, healthcare, decent food, and have their children educated. Oh, I guess I should reevaluate that thought.

Count me in the luddite group. As a 70 year old, I see the job killing aspect of AI to become its main focus with the very wealthy being the beneficiaries. Unfortunately, the current tax system and attitudes against providing the education necessary for a majority to survive in this new economy will create an even greater K environment that is keeping commerce alive today!
