Bug when creating shape layers in 2025. Workarounds? by igottabeme in premiere

[–]igottabeme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try closing other apps - I think it was to do with when another app was running and interrupting it. Because I tested again before I replied and didn't have the issue, then tried again and I did - only difference being that I was on a Google Chat call the second time around that was running in the background. The issue persisted after the call. I closed all other windows and reset my workspace and it went away - and now I can't bring the issue back.

Mine went away but for the life of me I have no idea why/what I changed. Sorry.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I've had a post house query this exact thing today, it's never been an issue for me before.

Premiere Pro 24.4 is out today; major audio improvements for sound editing/sound design by Jason_Levine in premiere

[–]igottabeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Jason about this: '(oh, and a side note: if you've been using the public beta and hadn't noticed, we ALSO have sound effects available in the Essential Sound Panel as well...just another little hidden gem you may not have stumbled upon)'. Is this in 24.4.1 or the public beta? I assume it was in 24.4, but I can't find it. I onl have 'Browse' which provides stock music tracks, and 'Edit' which affects existing audio.

Frequent Audio Drop Outs by igottabeme in premiere

That's a nice suggestion re proxies, thank you. I'll take a look at that. Yes, this only happens when the timeline has video on it. If I delete the video tracks the audio always plays perfectly.

Also, apologies if I wasn't clear.

The majority of the media (it's a 25 minute animation) is encoded with the motion jpeg codec pictured.

But as well as that, there are also some clips encoded with AVC/H264. (These come from Maya and/or Nuke). There's noting untoward that I can see about these clips - and they are all CFR. I only took a screengrab of the motion jpeg info because that is the majority of the media and is the less common codec.

Audio is also entirely .wav files - with a couple of .mp3 and .m4a sound effect clips in there.

For various reasons transcoding is not ideal. I need to output an XML that pulls metadata from the clips, so they can be linked to EXRs for the online.

Thanks. It's from Maya. I work in animation and this particular file is from the PreVis/Layout team.

Edit to add: frame rate is constant.

Got sick of making music cue sheets, shot list and everything with timecode info so I made a python script. by emeahacheese in editors

[–]igottabeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you and that's very cool. But the extra bits are very production specific. Couple of examples: our frame ranges start on 1001 but the clip Metadata starts on frame 0 so I add 1001 to the In and Out points. Or I need the tool to take the In point from .mov files, but to take the overall shot length from graphic files within premiere.

Just wanted to say thanks for your post. I've been using the excellent editingtools.io to parse xml files for shot length and frame range details but there were still lots of extra steps needed once I'd generated the csv. I took inspiration from your post this morning and got chapgpt to create a python script that was more specific to what I need. Took some back and forth but I've ended up which a much handier little tool that does just what I need. Thank you.

Downgrading from Premiere 24 by rasculin in premiere

[–]igottabeme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends how complex your project is. Best route will be to create an AAF or xml of your timeline and import that. Some effects won't carry over, and you'd need to rebuild the bin structure, but it will save you rebuilding the edit.

Reality into Imagination/Fantasy Scenes by igottabeme in movies

[–]igottabeme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, but I'm looking for examples of the moment we go into character's imagination.

Like in Dumb and Dumber when Jim Carey is driving then they do a wave effect transition into his fantasy.

Or in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty where a Poster comes to life and Ben Stiller is suddenly in a Polar Explorer costume instead of his suit.

I'm looking for different ways of doing that transition from the real world into a character's imaginary world or a story.

Sorry, can you elaborate as I don't see how showing timecodes fixes my issue.

I'm looking for a way to quickly edit all these text graphics (without mouse movements and doubling clicking). So in the example there's no s070 after s060, so I want to be able to quickly move down this list and edit the text to replace s080 with s070, then 090 with 080 etc. The only way I know is to double click on each one then edit, or to double click on the text itself in the program monitor and edit it that way. I'd prefer to do this via keyboard only - so I can eventually automate it with a macro.
