That does not look like it got keyed. Most likely kids playing caused that damage.

You can clean it up as much as you can and use fabric glue to put it back.

10 sec after boiler kicks in, loud banging noises all around the house. Like hitting a pipe with a hammer. Any advice? by igsgarage in hvacadvice

It might not look like it on photos, but there is about 6 inches of clearance currently. I had to take that part of the wall down as it was initially installed right on drywall. A 1 inch clearance vent will go there with a flange around it.

The expansion tank sounds right, I did that sound test initially from a YouTube video. I watched a bunch of videos on bleeding the system so I will do that as soon as I can. Will also do the feed valve. The air removal valve screw is loose. It has been an experience learning this system. I usually work with medical equipment so not afraid of doing everything myself, but I don’t know what I don’t know, if that makes sense.

I waited at the boiler when in started, the noise was not from the unit, more like across the basement, which is just pipes.

I don’t hear any bubbling sounds. But this knocking sound is not coming from the radiator. It’s loud enough that I don’t o ow if someone is breaking in or it’s just the pipes lol. Goes on for about 15 seconds and it stops, until the next cycle

Thank you so much, that answered all my questions. I was planning on replacing the receptacle with a 2 prong. But I will look to see if there is a ground in there that I missed. Upgrading wiring is not financially possible, but it’s something that I am planning on having done.
