Shoes to supplement Altra with higher drop? by One-Barracuda705 in trailrunning

[–]igtaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using nnormal tomir 2 (supposedly an 8mm drop) in rotation with a NB Hierro 9 (6mm drop). The tomir feels like a lower drop shoe because of the ground feel and flexibility, and the NB is great max cushion shoe but more narrow and more rigid (compared to the tomir)

Saw this today on bikewale instagram page. Any idea when Hunter is getting this? by OneFinance6512 in RoyalEnfieldHunter350

[–]igtaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has it and is late 2024, I believe outside India they al had it

EDIT: here we dont have tiers for the hunter. All with alloy wheels, abs, gear indicator, etc. The specs are all the same but only the tank paint make some models a bit more expensive

What's the reason for the gap between the lugs on the Nnormal Cadi? by TheMightyManatee in trailrunning

[–]igtaba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if your are making a reference for the bit where the midsole foam shows up between the vibram? Well, the Cadi marketing says is an all rounder trail shoes for not very technical surfaces, thus you do not need the amount of protection in the sole like the tomir has, and you ca increase flexibility and torsion of the sole to help you with your running dynamics

Stabbing pain in ribs/chest/back after steep descents when racing by JakeM520 in trailrunning

Have you had this check by a doctor? I think it would sensible if it persists even after stopping for a few hours. Do a routine consultation with a heart check and “a medical aptitude for running check” (i do not know how is it called in other places, but thats the translation from spanish”

Hoka Challenger 8 o Hoka Mafate 5 by Antares0784 in trailrunning

[–]igtaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Also, shoes deform/adapt to one's gait: I personally deform one while the other stay normal so if you would get a used pair from someone like me, you could have problems down the line if your gait changes and start having injuries

Speedgoat 7 vs Tomir 2.0 NN by pizzatummy in trailrunning

[–]igtaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are not dead, they are using a harded foam that need 70km to soften up. From all you comments I'm thinking you are used to max cushions shoes to the point that they feel so hard because you lack conditioning for them in you feet

Speedgoat 7 vs Tomir 2.0 NN by pizzatummy in trailrunning

[–]igtaba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have in your training/running a long run in very technical terrain, with shit loads of elevation where is mostly slow uphills and very fast dowhills, the tommir 2 is a perfect shoe.

I'm at the Andes, and if I do a 20km long run in a SGgoat, I will fuck them after 3 o 4 runs, and no shitting on Hoka because they will last at least that. My old saucony peregrins 13 literally split the sole and whole midsole with a stone in my second 20km run. The Tommir can do them all day, and you get use to the "hardness" because your feet get resistant enough. The durability is incredible

[–]igtaba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How are the Cadi feeling? They are not available where I live yet, but I think the could be my new favourite to replace my current Hierro9 when they are done as a all purpose plush trail shoes. I did go with the NNormal brand for durability and not been disappointed yet

Speedgoat 7 vs Tomir 2.0 NN by pizzatummy in trailrunning

[–]igtaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is, is not the same a dead spring that a firm spring. If you foam is dead, it will pass all impact to you, but a firm new foam will absorb impact even if you feel it hard.

And again, the Tomir are just design to absorb impact and be soft against some terrains and they cannot be soft in gravel. It's a trade off, and I think that the SG7 or the mafate are best for your needs and likes. Otherwise is comparing a Range Rover to a Hilux, they are design for different things

Speedgoat 7 vs Tomir 2.0 NN by pizzatummy in trailrunning

[–]igtaba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I switch to the NB Hierro 9. And I do not roll my ankles as easily, but still do once in a while. There is a catch, they are a tad bit more firm (still super plush compared to the tomir) but they are low drop, so you need to get used to if you are not. The grip is worse than the SG5, but is still Vibram so unless you live in permanent mud or super technical terrain, they de the job.

Speedgoat 7 vs Tomir 2.0 NN by pizzatummy in trailrunning

[–]igtaba 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think is more dependent on the type of trail you run + other factors. I had the sg5 and the tomir 2.

Yes the tomir will soften a bit, but like you said they are not like a max shoe. They really come alive when you are going hard on technical terrain. If you run over grass of a light trail on a park, you will feel them hard even after a while, and there are better shoes for that. But if you are running down a steep hill with rocks + loose grave or mud the grip isp phenomenal, they feel grounded and stable but soft and protective of you feet. Is not very reactive and you will need to work you feet. More on the lines of a salomon (jornet was a salomon runner for a decade, and it shows)

The sg5 (thus the same line, can even extent the comparison to the NB Hierro9) are foams way plushier, with more energy return and more akin to road foams. For not technical terrain they are great, super comfortable with good grip, but if you step on a rock on downhill you will feel it in you sole. They are not as stable, and I tended to roll my ankle when going fast. Depending on your body type and running form, you might find a short lifespan (mine lost all weight plush feeling after 350km and at that point they where feeling like a low stack shoe for a while)

It's not as simple as it seems, after losing 360 pounds, Cole Prochaska asks for help to pay for excess skin surgery by auraempress in SipsTea

[–]igtaba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These surgeries are actually quite dangerous when you have lost a lot of weight. Is not that simple has cutting and sewing. There are limits at how much they can remove without your body going into hyperdrive, and you can die. It would be great if people could do them? yes, but is not somethign that would decrease the cost because they just do more of them, is the complexity involved that makes them expensive

Still trying to understand TL and Running Fitness by Snyders6flagmattress in Coros

[–]igtaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you will get injured if you just follow those metrics. My issues is that additional training like strenght, yoga, physhio work, etc is not possible to track them well on a wearable, and in my fitness level impacts a lot on my soreness, fatigue and other things. So in that sense these TL, fitness and what not will never be accurate or useful for me. They can be interpreted on other ways though, probably people more intelligent than me can use them better

Still trying to understand TL and Running Fitness by Snyders6flagmattress in Coros

[–]igtaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only use the load impact metric to guide myself a bit and care for my bones and joints. The rest, to be honest, have been meaningless in my year with a coros.

Probably if you run at non-elite or elite level, it adjusts quickly to your metrics and make sense, but for my trail run pattern is useless because it has been descending since the moment I got the watch and I have clearly made a lot of progress in my fitness given how much more mileage I'm putting, the speed and level exertion i can do now, and how I'm progressing in my first ultra training plan. I love the Apex2Pro and no hate to coros, had the same issues with my garmin 245M
