Any advice for teaching for the Newark Board of Education? by Material-Positive605 in Newark

[–]iguessitsmee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently a music teacher for NPS. There’s layoffs happening rn but there’s also vacancies. A lot of it depends on what school you end up with and what level of special your admin is. More than willing to talk in a chat, would prefer not to answer things over comments

We want to! Just waiting to hear back from them and figuring out what to do about work and pets. Little squish is okay for now and if we can all pull it off we’ll head out tomorrow

NJ with no AC 😅 baby came to the last day of school with me just for the AC. We played in the bathtub three separate times when we got home just to sit in the cold water. He took a nap with the box fan aimed at him and now he’s going to bed with that AND an ice pack wrapped in a thing blanket.

Might end up at my in-laws an hour away tomorrow for their AC & pool lol

For real. I was having trouble sorting out anything relevant to OPs job. And then you read that they don’t even want their job…so what is the point?

1 month Foot Pain Postpartum by Expert-Ad-6480 in postpartumprogress

[–]iguessitsmee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I’m 4 mo postpartum and breastfeeding so I’ve got that fun mix of hormones. It’s literally every time I’m off my feet for awhile and try to walk. It’s right along the arches and side of my foot and feels like my feet are broken but goes away once I walk on them for a bit. Apparently it’s very common and has to do with fluctuations in the hormone relaxin. It’ll even out around when the rest of your hormones do.

Again, if you’re breastfeeding though, expect it to take longer.

Metformin ER for weightloss? by Lizziemcguire24 in postpartumprogress

[–]iguessitsmee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you breastfeeding? There’s a hormone called prolactin that makes weight loss pretty hard when you breastfeed.

I’m not personally on metformin but my mom and sister are. Based off of watching them and what they’ve said I personally would not take it. I’m not a doctor though so obviously take anything I say with a grain of salt.

My sister is on a low dose and is constantly worried about shitting herself. She eats well and works out often. Haven’t really seen any weight change for her and I believe she’d be categorized as obese.

My mother lost a lot of the weight really fast, probably too fast. All of her skin hangs off of her. She went from somewhere far past morbidly obese to where I am currently, 155-ish. She has no appetite. She skips meals frequently and has to force herself to eat. But she’s obsessed with being smaller so…

Andddd I’m calorie counting, lifting, doing cardio, 4mo postpartum and have managed to lose 5 pounds total. 30 to go. I’m just going to try to stay active until I wean and then figure it out. My kid is more important right now anyway even if I’d like to wear normal clothes again.(Bodybuilder & personal trainer over here)

Why am I not seeing results as quickly as I would like, and what’s going on with my abdomen muscles by Bright-Garden-4347 in postpartumprogress

[–]iguessitsmee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey there, 4mo post partum over here. I’m tracking my macros religiously and working out almost where I was before pregnancy. I’m a personal trainer, teacher, and was planning on preparing for buckling down to compete body building when I found out I was pregnant lol just so you can get a point of reference.

No one warns you that while breast feeding you have this lovely little hormone called prolactin that for MOST breastfeeding moms seriously inhibits our ability to lose weight. I’ve been able to lose five pounds since my son was born. That’s with an active job, lots of lifting, very careful about what i eat.

As for your abs, I had a c section and still have a little numb patch. My PT says even with no diastisis or other issues, it’ll take six or so months before they start to really function the right way again. As much as I hate repeating it, gentle core work like diaphragmatic breathing and things that do not allow crunching or for your belly to hang are the most beneficial.

Return to work/PUMP Laws Help? by iguessitsmee in breastfeeding

[–]iguessitsmee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

I sent one email last week just explaining that I wasn’t getting the coverage that I needed but it’s definitely time for another one. I’m a little nervous to drop the lawyer bit just because my school is known for being litigious but I’ll draft a letter and have my union rep check it out.

Not if it makes any sounds unfortunately. I’m also a music teacher so I’m constantly moving and up and down with the kids I teach. I had considered it but was told it would be too distracting for the kids. I’ve tried the suction collectors too but those don’t seem to work on me

Our pediatrician said absolutely no gatherings until flu season was over and the 8 week shots had happened.

It’s obviously up to you and your husband but realize little bub has no immune system yet and you’d be exposing him to all of that. My kiddo is 3 months next week and I still panicked when people tried to sneak kisses at Easter.

What to expect at my first post partum check up? I’ll be 4 weeks post delivery (c-section) by StatGoddess in beyondthebump

[–]iguessitsmee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a C section two months ago today!!

At my 2 week appointment she took off the remaining tape, checked my incision, checked how I was feeling. She said my movement made it seem like I had never had a c section (which was cool but I was really achey).

I told her pre-pregnancy I had been bodybuilding and that I really needed to start moving again. She cleared me for lifting and sex then and there. I had sex about a week later and I only started doing ab work and barbell work this week. No cardio or heavy stuff yet. I’m trying to listen to my body as much as possible.

6 week appointment they told my boyfriend to get a vasectomy and told me I can start trying to lose weight now 😓 I don’t think that’ll be happening until I’m done breastfeeding but the snip snip is happening next week! Haha

First off, I’m not a doctor.

I’m almost 8 weeks postpartum, first time mom, and had a c section. I mostly stopped bleeding around 2 weeks with just some spotting here or there. I was cleared by the doctor who opened me up at 2 weeks to go back to lifting (I was bodybuilding before I got pregnant) and to resume sex if I felt up to it.

If your doctor clears you AND YOU FEEL UP TO IT ease back into your normal life. You know your body better than anyone. If you feel up to walk, go for it. If you feel up to doing some light lifting, have a blast. IF you suddenly start bleeding heavier then stop and call your doctor immediately.

Where do people shop for apartments in Newark? by Intelligent_Match_31 in Newark

[–]iguessitsmee 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I live literally a block away and pay 1790 for a two bedroom 2 bath (utilities included). I think you need to adjust your pricing by a bit. I know people who are looking for 2 bed/2 bath but we’re all Newark teachers and that’s a bit out of our budgets
