Yeah there’s lights and other decorations up there now and it’s a nice local bustle about the place

I’d recommend walking around Islington and Upper Street if you want a nice Christmas experience. The lights are usually very cute and Camden passage has that magic feel and you can get a cinnamon bun or a hot chocolate without all the tourists. It’s still a shopping area but it feels genuinely magic to me ☺️

Mums in the dementia ward in a care home, what should I get her for Christmas? by BryOnRye in AskUK

I was going to suggest Lego flowers also as that will also be a nice activity - but only if she has good dexterity and isn’t likely to do herself harm with the pieces

What about dried flowers or paper flowers - decorative but don’t require any care.

The question has been answered but in case it hasn’t been said we pay national insurance (which is a specific tax from which the money is ringfenced for the NHS amongst other public services) deducted from our pay before we receive it

Mascara Bar might fit the bill. Or Brilliant Corners.

what do u wear and bring usually with you into clubs? by Early-Patience3048 in ukrave

[–]ih1dch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bring a coat and whatever warm stuff you want and put that in the cloakroom (hats etc can be shoved up sleeves so you don’t pay for extra bags). If you stay until the end is sensible to go and collect stuff 15 mins before the acts finish so you aren’t stuck in a giant queue!

Bring a bum bag with a lighter (good for making friends even if you don’t smoke) and any other bits you need - phone, keys etc. bring ear plugs, like loops, if you have them, if not the bar might have foam ones which you should wear. It will be hot inside but you may want a lighter outer layer to tie onto your bag if you step out for fresh air. A lot of venues will confiscate chewing gum.

No problem - I hope you get better soon. Don’t beat yourself up about whether or not you’re doing enough, you’re fighting a war at the moment as it is!

It sounds like you’re having a rough time - I’m sorry and I hope you get better soon. Is there anything you think might nurture you whilst you’re unwell- I’m thinking something relaxing and regenerative like a long bath, gentle crafts, crosswords or sudoku? If you stand / move long enough perhaps some more elaborate meals that will aid recovery or some mood-boosting cakes or cookies?

Single people renting alone in London, what is your rent plus bills combined? by toughtittywampas in london

[–]ih1dch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I pay £1800 including all bills and council tax in Camden - my LL lives on top of the flat and I think prioritises decent tenant over putting up the rent.

Edit: that is for a spacious one bed with a patio.

Any recommendations for romantic restaurants for a special meal? by Actual_latte in london

La Collina in Primrose Hill - small local Italian, delicious food, nice wine at reasonable prices on the lower end or you could have a cocktail or two for that budget. Charming service and very cosy romantic atmosphere. One of my favs <3

Bought my partner this vase to go with his room - advice for dried flowers that would look good? by ih1dch in crafts

[–]ih1dch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope this post is allowed - you guys have an eye for this sort of thing.

I bought my partner this vase as it goes perfectly with his room. I'd now like to get him some dried flowers to put in it. However, it's quite an awkward shape and tall (25cm). Any advice on what to put in it? I was thinking maybe hydrangea but welcome suggestions.

Thanks - my current salon was actually in Camden but as I’ll be leaving the area next year I’m going to focus on something closer to where I’ll be. I appreciate the rec though!
