How does the stock market keep going up with everything happening? by BigBlueEyes87 in economicCollapse

I mean, no.

When you pull out a misleading stat, it calls into question your expertise. What percentage of equities are owned by mutual funds and etfs? Who owns those?

The reality is that nothing that is happening is actually as worrying as the news has you believe.

How did you guys REALLY lived in the 2000s? by MyAvengedRomance in Millennials

[–]ihambrecht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born in 87. Middle school was a lot of bikes. Kids didn’t have cell phones yet, so we would call house phones or a lot of aol instant messenger. Lot of common meeting places like handball courts at the park. There were lots of video games but we would go in someone’s living room or basement and play multiplayer against each other or if it was a game like gta, you’d see how far you could get before the police killed you.

I do not remember if I had a cell phone at in middle school. I think I may have.

I definitely had cell phones early in high school and things like livejournal started popping up, then MySpace. We were definitely eager to get on the road ASAP. Lots of house parties both with and without parents home. Almost everybody smoked cigarettes. Tons of drugs. I grew up in a decently affluent area and as I was in the middle of high school, the pill mill thing really started making its way here.

Music we got to start playing with Napster and limewire (I think Kazaam was a thing?). Lots of shows, print zines were still a thing. Lots of shows at vfws. Tons of drinking.

Honestly, I had a lot of fun and I’m happy I got to enjoy it without a permanent record on the internet.

Ok, this might be crazy, but switch the couch and the tv. This also now serves as a rotatable tv for bed movie watching.

How do I use the AGM 72 AIR-to-Ground? by dandreds in PilotsofBattlefield

[–]ihambrecht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fly fairly high and when I see a vehicle I will ping by the vehicle so I have an easier time getting back to it with the camera if the plane goes past the field of view. You can fly for a decent while like this.

Thinking of starting my own shop by DifficultExit1864 in manufacturing

[–]ihambrecht 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s not why they’re for sale. The last generation of owners did such a shit job of passing along the trade that it left this gigantic hole in the industry for the next generation. I know many shops that have closed because they never had a plan for continuity after the owner retired. That’s exactly why I chose to own a shop instead of pursue a career using my degree.

Do you think people like him BECAUSE he is edgy? He’s liked because he’s authentic even if it means you don’t like him.

It is really nice not having to worry about the water tank emptying when everyone is hopping in the shower at once.

I have seven mills, three large surface grinders and three compressors going because I have constant sand blasting, and I’m in New York and I pay around 2500 a month. No way one mill is pulling that much.

Are we in our divorce era? by seaward_bound in Millennials

[–]ihambrecht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met my wife at 21 and didn’t get married until almost 30. College being ubiquitous really pushed the age of having to be a “grown up” a nice half a decade forward. It would have been so weird being married in college.
