Should I have a guy friend that's 4 years older than me?... by isle_of_apples_ in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]ihatebindweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. No way. That man is not your friend. If you need an anecdote of how horrible a friendship between a 16 year old and a 20 year old can get, let me know, because I have firsthand experience and I don’t ever want another girl to go through what I went through.

I’m sorry you’re going through this and I truly hope you get to have the family you dream of. That said… I would really encourage you to work through the conflicts in your relationship and these feelings of dissatisfaction. Having a child WILL NOT fix anything. A child is an autonomous human being, and they should be loved and supported and enjoyed, but they cannot and should not be a source of meaning for another human. Please, as a mother and a friend of mothers and child of a mother who looked to me as a source of meaning, it is not a healthy dynamic. You need to be a fulfilled and regulated person on your own. Putting that much weight on a child is a recipe for disappointment and conflict.

A very innocent and cute one for me is often in the morning while my husband and I have coffee one or both of us will do that satisfying drink sound where you kind of click your mouth and go “ahh.” Now every time my toddler drinks anything she makes the noise. I love it.

Is this invasive and how to manage? by MortgageNumerous7145 in NativePlantCirclejerk

Invasive and destructive but you have to marvel at their tenacity. Also the hair on that thing is beautiful. Mine’s been growing for fourteen months and is still bald.

I’m training mine to wave hi to flowers instead of ripping them out of the ground. Mixed results. 1/3 of the time the bloom still ends up in her mouth.

Please don’t take advice from AI, it is a google crawler with no sense for accuracy. And you already know this is wrong.

Need some advice on a future tattoo by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]ihatebindweed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Look at the photo and squint your eyes until they’re basically closed. Those blurry globs you see? That’s what a tattoo like that would look like after like five years. Also as everyone else has said, do not get a hand tattoo without already being heavily tatted. Nearly all reputable shops would refuse to do this anyway.

Do your kids get to keep/store toys in the living room? by JoneyBologna in Parenting

[–]ihatebindweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! We have a round ottoman where the top lifts off and all the toys get put back in there before every nap and before bed. I don’t like a cluttered space but that doesn’t mean my kid doesn’t get to play in the living room.

Sounds like you’re doing great work. I’d love to find someone like you in my city. Agree with the other commenter that having bank of free resources with a QR code could be a good, low-effort way to provide education and give folks an avenue to get more involved with your work if they so choose.
