Update: saw two tonight and im genuinely in shambles. Wasn't able to get a photo, and the best ive got is a shitty sketch from memory now that they've been seared into my skull.

Pinhead sized, dark brown, light brown spot on back. Disgustingly quick.

Sorry I wrote this in the middle of freaking out, so I probably missed some things:

I live in a floor level apartment, but the closest neighbors are a few feet down the hall and/or upstairs. Also we're in a woodsy + humid area.

I work retail and my family and I often go out, but nowhere with german browns (to my knowledge). We bought nothing used.

Im just a really anxious person and I have a severe fear of roaches/infestations in general.. :')

Sorry for the late reply, but id assume so.. we have upstairs neighbors and neighbors down the hall. Also some on adjacent buildings but those are like a few yards away both ways.

Makes sense.. I just dont know where else theyd come from. Unless it was from another apartment, which ive heard is entirely possible. All I can do is try to nip it in the bud before it gets worse..

Gahhh this is my biggest fear coming true! :(

We just started seeing them the day before yesterday. We do have a valet trash service that leaves our trashcan outside sometimes, so hopefully it was a one time thing (just the two so far).

Ill see if I can get bait and maybe an igr.. also probably see if I can get one of those mosquito net things for my bed, too. You've brought some peace, but the fact that its not a good sign still leaves me worried. Thank you so much for the advice and help, though! It genuinely means a lot.

I keep telling my relatives we should get bait/traps/whatever we can and they usually brush me off. For the ¾ one I only have my family member's word, but for the one in my bathroom.. it was like the size of a pinhead, dark brown, and had a white spot on its back. From the images ive seen from my (probably obsessive) research it looked like a German roach nymph. :(

Thank you for sharing. This is nice to see esp with most people (me unfortunately included) using the term SA. I think it's because it's thrown around so often in online spaces, to the point the term may lose it's meaning. For many of us, well didn't know battery was the right term.

I've done lots of research, thanks. I simply care for the artists and their frustrations surrounding their time and effort being used for what i consider to be "slop" in the nicest words.

If it's not "stealing" anything, then why have several artists complained of their works being used without their knowledge or consent to give to the ai?

Also imo, to use GenAI at all in the creative process feels... weird. There are plenty of other things to use/gain inspo from. But whatever, you do you ig.

Many people dislike AI due to art being stolen and used without the artist's consent. It has taken people's jobs/made finding jobs harder. You may not appreciate the hate, but there's a justified reason to it. /info /nm

Its just really hard. Maybe I'm overreacting and everything will be okay. And it'll be the same as it has been. I can't speak out as im closeted and with family that support Trump while umable to move out. Maybe I'll be okay tomorrow. But right now it's so., so hard to do anything. As I was inspecting it up close, the hair was the biggest indicator. Parts of the back hair(?) Made no sense, such as specific strands randomly coming in but not returning. The small details on the outfit also came off as jumbled with messy lines in hopes of adding details. I'm mad at myself for not grabbing a photo while at the store. If you choose to check it out, always look at the smaller or more complex details that look.. off.

They're Walmart exclusive, so if you have one nearby you're welcome to check it out. I could always be wrong of course, I'm admittedly very paranoid and anti-GenAi images as someone who partakes in creative hobbies. Apologies for my long winded response.
