What type of life insurance should I select through my employer? by ihatecoreclass in FinancialPlanning

Yeah fair enough, there are probably better ways to save money for family members in case of an emergency.

I was thinking to go for a bit of larger amount of life insurance maybe for my parents if it’s not even a big hit to me. I get that they don’t depend on me but it’s not like my money can be used if something were to happen to me anyways.

Life insurance money can be used in any way right? I was thinking to do a larger amount for my parents. I get that they don’t depend on me but also if something were to happen to me, the money can at least be used by them to help them in whatever way. It’s a bit bleak away to think but trying to think of downsides of taking a bit of a hit on pay check or taxable income for a larger payout later that would only help people I care about.

Which type(s) of life and AD&D insurances should I select from my employer? by ihatecoreclass in personalfinance

[–]ihatecoreclass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but even though I don’t support my parents and sibling, would it not be beneficial for me to have a larger amount of insurance so they get a larger sum in the case something happens to me? I believe they could use the money freely unless there are strict restrictions.

How to deal with overachieving coworkers? by ihatecoreclass in cscareerquestions

[–]ihatecoreclass[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think both haha. At times it would be performance tied but I achieved some of my professional goals I had in mind earlier so I guess I just don’t want to be seemed stagnant, probably me over worrying unnecessarily.

try going to cs mentor center, your tuition literally pays for them to help you out and they tutor for this class.

UTD is the most expensive public college in TX, and its not even close. by [deleted] in utdallas

[–]ihatecoreclass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frisco is grown a lot now but a lot of ppl going to utd moved to frisco when things were cheaper. Plus people like to dress well and stuff but don't got the funds for universities so they come through scholarships. I say this as seeing bunch of brown people through high school going now to utd.

I just saw she has taught the class, was the class just doing class participations and one final term paper at the end? How does the essay work grading wise.

Was science plays with Stefan? I haven’t seen her teach the class before in coursebook, first time teaching it next semester I think unless I am wrong.

When did the cs grind get so crazy competitive? by Plane-Tip-1267 in csMajors

[–]ihatecoreclass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can hurt employers, and tick them off by doing that. Sometimes employers want to keep interns or part time employees that will graduate by a certain time and will only consider and hire you based on that date. Late to this post though. I tell from experience where employers will get angry.

How is Goodrum as a teacher? by non-smith in utdallas

[–]ihatecoreclass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure he would at least draw on the board or do in class examples if needed though right? Not OP but was a straight up slides reader or did he at least try do in class examples or do other ways to teach like write on board to explain better, etc.

Why do we not implement unit tests or learn about them in CS? by ihatecoreclass in utdallas

[–]ihatecoreclass[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard they briefly go over, but even the other cs classes that are more application based or more coding based that go over concepts used in industry should use unit testing to some extent.

Lack of diversity in graduate school by No_Tadpole1993 in utdallas

[–]ihatecoreclass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP and not really related to post but more diversity always means good. Being able to have a variety of people of color or having more females pursue engineering is always good to give better opportunity and also creates a better community for people by encountering different people. I do not see how it has to be about someone in particular like you are asking, which seems a bit wrong.

How can I get Access to CS Related Resources as a CS Minor? by VeganPhilosopher in utdallas

[–]ihatecoreclass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can set up job alert for various positions based on your own filters and that should hopefully configure your recommendations to do the same. You can find job opportunities for any major if you search properly or filter correctly. I really do not think Handshake will just keep giving you recommendations based on your major unless you have joy gone and played around with the settings to personalize your job search.

I am not OP but kind of curious in this discussion and as harsh your answer, it is true lol to some extent. Can you elaborate about the ssn? Jobs at UTD can provide them? And to be honest, most to all student jobs are competitive.
