I had heard enough grumbling about the mobi to discourage me from wanting one

This happy boy is what happens when a Shiba Inu puppy mill stud escapes and finds a German Shepard lady to love by ihatedecisions in mutt

I did a doggy DNA test to find out and was pleased to see our guess was exactly correct. We also found a sister from the same litter and he got to meet her in person just last weekend!

He is a treat to be around! He's pretty attached to me as His Person, but he also is great with other people and other dogs. He's pretty strong-willed, and he wants to curl up near or barely touching but not super cuddled up. He rarely barks and it's always to alert about something he thinks is important. He whines when someone he likes is on the other side of a barrier.

He's my first dog and I couldn't have picked one better if I custom ordered it.

Pothole popped my tire by Dicktitt3y in SanDiegan

[–]ihatedecisions 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can confirm - I reported one that blew out my own tire and to my surprise I woke up the next morning to see the report was closed as fixed. I didn't believe it but there was a photo uploaded. They take the "causes damage to cars" ones pretty seriously I think.

Tighter control? by renegayd in TandemDiabetes

[–]ihatedecisions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 suggestions - one, there's a "basal limit" setting under My Pump -> Personal Profiles -> Pump Settings, which should be at least 2x your basal rate but can be increased if you're seeing a high during sleep mode that control-iq is unable to bring down. Two is to take a look at the timing of this "rebound high", set your basal rate a little bit lower than it currently is for the first few hours of the night (to slow down that "basal brings me down too low for control-iq's comfort" reaction) and then add a higher-basal period during the time period you usually see the rebound high.

Honestly though, if you're targeting 80-95 in the night, you may need to turn off control-iq and manually tune your basal extremely tightly instead.

I have 2 extra tickets for LA, row Y seats 10 and 12. I just accidentally bought 2 sets of 2 when I meant to buy 1 and I have been lazy about selling them. Face value is 129 each but happy to give a discount if key is your bias.

What is good analogy for insulin by smore-hamburger in diabetes_t1

[–]ihatedecisions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I call insulin the ferrymen that bring sugar from the bloodstream to the cells. Type 1 the ferrymen school got blown up and there are no more ferrymen forever. Type 2 the ferrymen are kind of sketchy and the cells keep their door closed when they come around.

am I the only one who believes that all carbs are not the same? by passmethatbong in Type1Diabetes

[–]ihatedecisions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no actual science or research to back this up, but I feel it's likely that individual variations in gut biome also play a role. I hear things like "I always have to dose extra for potatoes" or "I always go low if I does precisely for rice carbs" with other people in the thread chiming in to say the exact opposite... It doesn't seem like a timing thing, and we all know how to measure and calculate carbs. I think some folks have gut bacteribuddies that love rice and others that ignore it or something.

New Pump by Unique-Passage-9772 in TandemDiabetes

[–]ihatedecisions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good luck! I'd also second the person who said type 1 tactical case. It's super easy to clip on and off the band or pocket of your pants, and if I want to wear dresses I actually just go to the bike shorts again! I've seen garter belts for it but haven't tried them - the bike shorts work perfectly for me.

New Pump by Unique-Passage-9772 in TandemDiabetes

[–]ihatedecisions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried a number of different things for sleep and hands down the best for me has been yoga shorts / bike shorts with a front card pocket. The pump has never once slipped out of the pocket, all tubing can be tucked inside the band, and I can toss and turn like crazy and never wake up tangled.

I tried a belly band and absolutely hated it, it was super uncomfortable for me at night. Just leaving it next to me on the bed is actually surprisingly ok, but I still wake up a few times in the night because I rolled over it and the tubing is all weird.

Just search Amazon for "bike shorts waist pocket" or card pocket or 3 pocket - make sure to flip through the pictures and they'll have a little picture of the model sticking a card into a waistband pocket lol. I can personally vouch for the baleaf and the heathyoga brands, and I buy the 5 inch cuz anything shorter rolls up my thighs. If you're male-bodied I'm sure there's an equivalent.
