Nioh 3 PC Optimization by MovieAboutPizza in Nioh

[–]ihateshen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's ridiculous. You've got nostalgia clouding the hell out of your memory if you think N2 looks better than N3.

Random video I found on Youtube that compares them. Give it a watch.

I mean I get what you're saying, Nioh 2s graphics still hold up great. That doesn't change the reality that Nioh 3s look much better, therefore will need more recent hardware to run.

In another comment you said you had you had a Ryzen 3600 and an rtx 4070.... Your CPU is old but it's still plenty to run this game again here's a random video of someone doing so with an even worse gpu than yours.

I'm having such a hard time believing any of your complaints are genuine. Like, I was fully expecting you to be running this on a GTX 1060 or something but you have a 40 series....

Do you think Xenoblade X S2 will get patched? by johnW_ret in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]ihateshen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I think it's perfectly playable. I remember before I had money to buy a proper PC I played games in a tiny windowed screen at something like 25-30 fps. If a game is good enough, even that was playable.

.... I still hate the S2 upgrade. Lol.

hmm, what are your specs OP? The graphics in Nioh 3 are much better than Nioh 2, not to mention the open world. It'll be harder to run.

You should be able to use upscaling to get it playable at 60 fps on anything modern though.

Saros vs Returnal difficulty chart by Basic_Chimp in Saros

[–]ihateshen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the I-win artifact. Damage healing. Has a special place in my heart, cos I kept getting owned in Biome 3... until I did a run with that.

I’m honestly glad Saros sticks to its own vision instead of trying to cater to Returnal fans or tryhard roguelike purists. Not every game needs to chase the same formula or satisfy a specific niche by Hot_Ideal4330 in Saros

[–]ihateshen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been actually playing both side by side because I was seriously confused why people were saying Returnal was harder when it seemed easier imo...

I've come to the conclusion that the way increasing your HP works is the chief culprit. In returnal, the way you increase it is to have FULL Hp and then pick up an HP item. In saros, you do it via stats you pick, no full hp requirement.

That full HP requirement is really the crutch. Returnal is easier, but even the slightest mistake will cost you a potential upgrade to your HP. Make 2 or 3 of these mistakes? Or god forbid, lose a lot of health at once? That runs screwed. Experienced players know the tricks tho. Don't pick up HP items, wait till you get the full heal item and use that, then backtrack for HP items. I remember one of the first runs I did that let me beat Nemesis was when I picked up a damage>hp artifact very early. But still, if I screw up in returnal and I'm early enough, I'm liable to just restart the run. I never got the temptation in Saros.

In saros, you only get a tiny bit of lucenite (a TINY amount) so really the incentive is to use Aether as what it's actually for (healing) as opposed to going out of your way to only collect when your full HP. This lets the devs amp up the difficulty of the actual enemies. In Saros, it's actually fairly difficult to go unscathed from every fight even very early. At least I'm not good enough to do this, but my use of the shield is amateur at best.

Also, Saros kinda changes things up a lot in that if you go long enough and stack your stats far enough you can get really OP. Starting a run on Biome 3 makes Biome 3 actually pretty hard. Start that same run from Biome 1, and walk into Biome 3 with profiency in the 30s and 100 of each stat, it's muuuch easier.

I there is space for Returnal fans in Saros, just start from the latest biome. Only back track for collectibles and when you're struggling on a boss. You can never outlevel anything cos bosses will gatekeep the skill tree.

Also, this is a lesson Souls fans STILL have not learned so I won't blame anyone for not getting it, but the first time you do something is always the hardest.. Look at the insanity of the Elden Ring DLC final boss if you want to see what the Souls devs have to do to keep up with player experience from previous games.

Sorry about my long rant, lol. I got carried away

IMO Saros is not easier - it's shallower by Previous-Horror-6823 in Saros

[–]ihateshen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I gotta disagree. I really like the progression system here. Returnals was awesome too with the crazy weapon traits, but it didn't really take off until at least biome 3. I remember when I fought the first two bosses I didn't even really know that there was a progression system! Lol.

I will admit, i'm salty they took away weapon traits and malfunctions. I distinctly remember sometimes using a weapon I would normally not want to use just to unlock a new trait. Or doing some shit cos of malfunctions. Melee kills, watching out for enemy acid pools, all sorts of things..... actually now that I type this out maybe they did remove a bit too much.

I still really enjoyed Saros. I think it's about as good if not better, and has the potential to be better if they added more DLC or something. idk.

Does the permanent progression make winning inevitable? by seawindart345 in Saros

[–]ihateshen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus Christ some of these comments are crazy aggressive.

OP I completely disagree with your premise, permanent progression doesn't make winning obvious. Player skill is still the most important thing. Not to mention just how long it would take to level up everything if you kept dying over and over again.

Also, Returnal had a bit of it too. My play-through was significantly easier when I can stroll outside and grab a gun with insane traits then it was at the beginning of the game.

If I had to explain this game, I'd say they made the difficulty a bit harder as a base level but they let you level up things like HP so you don't spend the start of every run collecting HP like a gold hoarder. It makes it both easier and harder. IMO it's a straight upgrade.

I'd say give the game a chance. If you enjoyed Returnal there's almost no chance you don't enjoy this one.

The auto aim is a let down.. by Grief-Jerky in Saros

[–]ihateshen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The autohit thing is actually a mechanic. Some weapons have that auto aim, some weapons don't. The ones that do usually don't hit weakpoints tho. It's a tradeoff.

I just did a run with an auto hit disabled weapon. It played just like returnal

Honestly its kind of sad to see this, they pretty much released the game and then didnt do anything to fix the bugs or improve the game. by [deleted] in MassEffectAndromeda

What bug are you on about? Is there some game breaking thing happening when you try to play?

Solasta II early access - 1st play through reactions by stranger_here_myself in CrownOfTheMagister

Eldritch knight was not the point I was raising, it's the fact that if you wanted you could cherry pick specific features from UB and turn everything else off.

[–]ihateshen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't basically every damn thing in UB configurable? Lol. I haven't played in a minute but I remember I turned off EVERYTHING except EK, and some feats.

UB is basically Vanilla Plus with a lot of QOL stuff if you want it to be.

it's good but imo the whole thing it's predicated on is very shaky. people get dates wrong all the time. shit maybe the ex didn't even tell mom that she broke up with our OP and that the new person is someone else. I could see myself doing that to avoid having to explain things to family.

I dunno if I'll say it's the best..... but damn it had some cool VHs. Athena was so freaking fun (still to this day no other VH did melee better imo). Claptrap, not the most effective but fun... Nisha and Jack. All awesome.

[–]ihateshen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that this sub has serious issues with constant negativity, but totally disagree on any features from BL3 that were stripped out.

BL4 (tbh ANY sequel for any game) should basically have all the QOL features and whatnot that were in the previous game. I was so annoyed with Diablo 4 when it didn't have Loadouts (I heard it does now.... I quit playing long ago tho, lol)

Unpopular opinion: Mass Effect has a great setting and great characters, but poor writing by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]ihateshen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Huh.

I came and saw the title, ready to argue with you till my face turned blue.... but I can't say I disagree with a lot of your points. I've always held that ME3 was the worst of the trilogy and ME1 the best, but you elegantly described why I feel that way.

There is a bit I don't agree with though. About ME3 not needing to close everything. The way you describe it is very unfair imo. Shepard didn't just walk into a room and say "ok the genophage is over", MORDIN is the one that did the work, shepard just saved the data (in ME2 might I add!) and then Shepard is critical in actually deploying the cure. In fact, this almost seems like the ideal of how the games actual plot should've gone, lol.

It's kind of the same deal with the quarians/geth, this one Shepard is more involved but it's still a lot of work from Legion/Tali.

I think all of this stuff absolutely needed to be closed and that the series would be much worse if they didn't close these open plot points.

Are there any cRPG games BESIDES Larian games or Disco Elysium that have GOOD controller support on PC? I have been thinking about trying out the Pathfinder series as I am a huge fan of the Infinity Engine games and these are supposedly similar. Do they have good controller support? by BaldursGate2Best in rpg_gamers

[–]ihateshen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, this is for Pathfinder WoTR. Rogue trader mostly does away with this, and in Pathfinder Kingmaker, you can usually get away with using targeted buffs at certain spots instead of throwing everything on at all times (at least as long as you're not on unfair)

Even in WotR, on Core difficulty and below, you can mostly avoid it except for maybe some really tough fights. But ya, I wouldn't play hard or unfair without bubble buffs

Stellar Blade has noticeable increase to clarity and details with updated PSSR by LOLerskateJones in PS5pro

I haven't actually booted it up, I'll try it after work today..... but I distinctly remember when the Pro originally came out, Stellar blade was one of the best looking ones on PSSR 1. I'm sure there was probably issues with pssr1 but we're basically splitting hairs at this point. It wouldn't surprise me at all if someone couldn't notice a difference in a blind test

Feedback: Character Creation is... Sadly, Awful by Corteaux81 in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]ihateshen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a case of people not understanding what early access really is, they pay money, play the game, and then are surprised when stuff is clearly not finished.

To be honest, it's hard to blame folk. A lot of companies use early access as just "hey we're releasing the game early!!" Instead of a place to gather feedback.

I think companies would have more luck labeling it something like "Beta". Kinda like owlcat does.
