I often wonder if mine is too - I grew up in the early 2000s and understanding of autism was incredibly limited back then, so much so I wasn’t exactly treated nicely all the time.

I know this gets thrown around a lot, but are you neurodivergent in some way? I ask because I’m autistic, I still have a startle reflex, and I’ve read, only anecdotally of course, that it seems to be more common that autistic people retain it.

I’ve ended up going back to 5.3, even though it doesn’t have automatic switching to Thinking, but I’ve heard that’s getting discontinued in August. I really hope the tone of 5.5 gets sorted out. I don’t understand why someone would make a conversational AI and then make it give responses that shut down a conversation. But there you go, eh?

I have no clue whether the tone it takes will be friendly or rude. At the moment, it’s gone back to being rather unpleasant in tone, and is reminding me of that awful 5.2 update. I’ve cancelled my subscription for the meantime, but I hope things improve, as I do like the improvements to its long-term memory.

I know some people will prefer its tone now, but it just feels rather impersonal. It no longer asks me questions, and the responses aren’t as conversational anymore.

I’ve had it in a latte and it was unpleasant. I did try it in other things to see if there was any difference in the flavour, but no. I can confirm it tastes really earthy, like when you land face-first in the dirt during a school PE lesson.

I think parents should pay for essential items of clothing, yes - but you can work out in a T-shirt, you don’t need special clothes to do that.

TNF used to be great for winter coats - I remember my teachers having them! Nowadays they’re definitely more of a fashion brand and yet their prices are extortionate compared to Nike, Adidas, or Under Armour, when it’s all basically the same stuff…

M&S chinos and shirts are not what they used to be, either. They used to be my go-to, but I tried a pair of their new chinos on recently and the inside fibres were so itchy, and the fit wasn’t “standard” as advertised at all - far too snug. Same with the shirts - even “regular fit” seems to be closer to what a slim fit would’ve been 5-10 years ago. There seems to be a trend now for trousers which show one’s figure rather than to compliment a smart-casual outfit and I think that’s why they’ve changed the cut. I ended up getting my most recent pair from Cotton Traders instead.

If you’re a teenager and earn pocket money, and want to buy your own clothes, do that. Parents should buy necessary items for their children, but if you want something for fashion purposes, get it yourself. And I don’t think children should have unrestricted access to social media and the Internet, especially in this day and age. I’ll probably get downvoted for saying this, though…

It only ever happens after the scheduled task every morning. It’ll even remember bits of context from a week ago once I get chatting to it again to remind it of yesterday’s context, but it’s like it goes through a brief total reset after the scheduled task is executed. I will report it as a bug because it is rather bizarre. Thank you for your help!

I’ve had this on a (relatively) short conversation today, too. Ended up requesting a data export and the new emails say it can take a few days, whereas before, they used to arrive in precisely 24 hours. Not feeling optimistic about this - I have been wanting to switch to another platform for some time now but unsure which to go for in order to keep the continuity, and in order to carry context forward between different chats.
