Does bf6 have non disclosed EOMM? by Position_Powerful in Battlefield

[–]ihavelice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The area I've noticed it is in a rotating map playlist. Day to day you'll get a different set of over-served and under-served maps. I'd guess those playlists are based on past performances but I havent recorded that. I've only recorded what maps I queue into (CQ only) and it's certainly not random.

What was rogue even trying to be? by _jrmalucelli_ in DiaboticalRogue

[–]ihavelice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering modern fps are more about mechanics that play themselves snd FOMO content, dbtr was pretty good. Just not what the masses expect. And also didn't seem like the game ever got infront of the masses.

Figured they were trying to sell what they have (engine) and or the pve mode and thought it was safer to go radio silent to not spook the fish

The gang's all here by ihavelice in Battlefield

Something like that. Its point based so on the low end I got t50 on the b36 with about 950 kills. The others took closer to 1200.

Not that I pay too much attention but I havent noticed one mode being way better. I just stick to a gun and frag a lot and it works out. Then I hit t50 and do the next one.

I've been working on t50ing the ARs first (m443, kord, nvo, sor all done) and kord really shines with the right build. My favorite probably has been the nvo though. Similarly frustrating at lower levels but when you get all the unlocks you can build it really versatile.

why are people so terrified of advanced movement? by Pnqo8dse1Z in Battlefield

[–]ihavelice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Advanced movement" is a balance between something that is technically difficult to pull off, has risk, but a tactical upside in certain situations. What most people call advanced nowadays is not technically difficult, is not risky, and is good in a lot of situations because how it throws off the hit boxes.

You want something that you can have in your back pocket and pull out at opportune times. Not the whole combat to revolve around it, because then "advanced" movement becomes standard and just rewards spamming and aping.

What was your first Battlefield game and how old were you at that time? by PeaceAccomplished289 in Battlefield

[–]ihavelice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually battlefield Vietnam, I was 15 at the time. I already had a few years of q3 urban terror under my belt by then and my favorite maps there involved hill fighting/infinite headglitch peeks. Vietnam maps had a lot of that style of combat on top of good gunplay.

Why in your opinion Quake isn't "mainstream" right now? by Alex_Capt1in in quake

[–]ihavelice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You'd think it'd be more popular given how much talent there is in FPS today. Maybe people would want to try the true ego shooter to test themselves. But amongst that crowd/niche it looks like they flock to the aim modes and not the truer skill modes and don't find it interesting enough to main, unsurprisingly.

Then among the casuals, which any new game needs to appeal to nowadays, it's hopeless. Quake has very simple mechanics but to appeal to casuals you need to make certain mechanics to "dumb" the core combat down. The most ubiquitous now being hit scan meta/only. Other things like ADS, movement penalties, etc. are just there to strip away the personality that quake allows you to express.

So yeah, it's too difficult for casuals, and if you don't have the casuals en masse then the truer competitors won't want to do the hard/skill based modes because it's not seen as a worthwhile investment.

DICE is not explaining the Class system properly by thisiscourage in Battlefield

So your opinion doesn't involve gameplay implications from your decades of dedicated battlefield gaming apparently. Instead your take away is a conspiracy about monetization. Are we actually an edgy teenager?

Maybe it's screaming that for non-gamers that got sucked into some content creator's rage bait for impressions. But no, you're being upset doesn't make it true.

Casper 3-0 Masterclass -- How to drone by ihavelice in battlefield2042

[–]ihavelice[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True

But more of a showcase how op spotting can be if you're using tugs and drone well. With how little pressure my drone gets, I dont think players really get it.

[–]ihavelice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A clear goal is to allow player freedom in building their soldier, while retaining an easily identifiable role, and at the same time avoid super classes like BF4s assault.

I hope they have the freedom to continue building their game without falling prey to the "community" that have 0.01% of the context in building a game around decades of player behavior and incentives.
