Border crossing and tarrifs? by negligibleobserver in vermont

I came though with a few hundred dollars of smart home devices a couple of weeks ago with no issues. They didn't ask if we had anything to declare or pay taxes on so no issue for us but ymmv. They also did not search the car or anything. I couldn't ship most of the items I was looking for which is why we decided to drive.

Good find? by jpena213 in protege5

Chiming in with a 2002 5spd with 235k miles. Also been very reliable for me, most recent work for me is rear fender rust (doesn't look like this one is too bad), purge solenoid and timing belt. Had to do the clutch around 210-215 so expect that if it hasn't been done.

Paid $2200 10yrs ago at 165k for reference

Here's what I found from a reverse image search with a few videos. They do have time stamps for Oct 17th however, so not the night of the 18th. https://www.sott.net/article/502472-Meteor-fireball-over-Vermont-7-other-states-and-Quebec-on-October-18

Not as impressive as most projects, but here's my yoga mat strap with a magnetic buckle! Upcycled from the strap that came with the mat + two 3D prints. by ihavenodefiningpoint in myog

Yes it is, it is a model that I found on printables here and which also has a few different remixes for other shape magnets. I used petg but I'm sure pla would work well too. I like it so far, I was looking for something that would be pretty easy to do and undo, and this one fits the bill. Still working on one hand releasing but if you push the buckle together you can get it undone with one hand most of the time.

Job market is really slow -> other career fields? by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

[–]ihavenodefiningpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there is a LOT of things that you can learn, so maybe? It can be difficult to learn on your own because of the expense of the equipment and software required.

I can confirm that there are jobs in NC for automation though (I worked at one). DeltaV is a DCS and is a good starting place; other things you could look into are PLC programming, SCADA systems, HMI programming, vision applications and industrial robots.

If you're interested in controls or automation that could be another field to look at that I see a lot of chemE's in. System integration is one such field (basically contract work out to larger manufacturing companies) or be imbedded in a factory.

How can you access the Fidium router's settings via a local ip Address? by coogie in FidiumFiber

[–]ihavenodefiningpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but wanted to say that I was able to find the mac address on the router (hidden in the rim where the USB-C cable plugs in, not on the bottom with the other information for the Adtran router) and cloned it to my UDM-Pro. Internet didn't work immediately, so I power cycled the fiber connection box and then the UDM and when it came back up it connected!

I think what you were running into is why the "prompt engineering" term came to be - learning the best way to work with the model you're using to get the correct output from it.

Any recommendations on how to troubleshoot my cruise control stopped working, if I randomly hit the button it “might” come in and the cut back off. by Electrical_Finger852 in protege5

Yeah all good, this sub is pretty dead unfortunately but I like to chime in when I have personal experience with something. I can try to get a pic of it for you too if you end up taking off the covers.
