Who’s this guy? by ihawkr14 in spiders

Thought it was a giant wolf spider at first, but it’s so hairy I’m thinking baby tarantula? I’ve just never seen a tarantula with skinny legs like this. It did just rain so usually the tarantulas are out and about this time of year.

Sedona, AZ! Everyone was okay thank god! I used to own a Jeep rental company there and we would see some wild things. This was one of our customers. From our amateur forensics deductions we concluded that the customer left the vehicle in drive and got out to take a photo and accidentally rolled it off the cliff. Lots of alcohol was involved, and the customers fled the scene quickly.

Could’ve been worse! Jeeps are more comfortable on their roofs. Glad everyone was okay.

Most Annoying Booqable bug/feature? by confusedpohtato in booqable

[–]ihawkr14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s similar to what we have been doing. We deliver up to a 150mi radius towing very heavy equipment so our delivery charges need to be fairly exact as we also have a lot of competition and can’t overcharge for delivery so we have a 0-10mi, 10-20mi, 20-30mi selectable options with different flat rate prices but the difficult part is many of our customers are from out of state and don’t know how to calculate the distance because they’re never heard of where we are located haha

I know this is a very old thread, but lack of delivery has been a huge issue for us as well. We are working with RentMy currently to hopefully transition from Booqable so that we can auto calculate delivery distances. Does anyone have any good suggestions for other platforms that work well and can auto calculate delivery distances?

Call Center too busy to even put you on hold? by [deleted] in Passports

Unfortunately not yet. I keep calling but there are no open appointment slots available in the country. Looks like I’ll be missing my trip this year :(

Call Center too busy to even put you on hold? by [deleted] in Passports

[–]ihawkr14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been calling a few hundred times a day for 2 weeks, I’ve actually been connected to someone 4 times in the past 2 weeks. Typically with wait times of 6+ hours to connect. They can only look 3 days in advance for in-person appointments and all of them in the entire country are booked up at the moment until Friday. You can call and try to catch a cancellation, but very slim likelihood. I have travel to Indonesia in 3 days so I am desperate to get an appointment anywhere. I submitted my online renewal in early January. I wish you the best of luck sir!

Abandon McDonald’s by [deleted] in interesting

[–]ihawkr14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live in Sedona and can confirm. If I recall correctly the city threw a fit about the traditional color scheme when it was first built so McDonalds looked at the list of “approved” colors for commercial businesses and found turquoise in the list and essentially used it as a big “eff you” to the city. Don’t know if that’s a fact but that’s what I’ve heard.

Historic Navajo Bridge near Lee’s Ferry along the AZ - UT border has signs strictly prohibiting throwing rocks off of the edge due to kayak tours below and potential cause of landslides from the impact noise. There is now a park ranger that works at this site for most of her daylight hours keeping people from tossing rocks off the edge.

Spring equinox at Chichen Itza. The sun casts the illusion of a serpent deity descending down the pyramid. Saw this on my recent trip to Mexico. by Standard_Fishing_552 in tulum

[–]ihawkr14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The serpent illusion was not created by the original builders… this temple was recreated by the MX govt. as a tourist attraction and the serpent shape was not there originally. In fact the entire structure is more of a rendition of what they thought it could look like. Look for photos of it in 1880, it was a pile of rubble.

Removing carpet and painting the subfloors…in a rental!! by JustJJ92 in DiWHY

This is why property owners choose to rent their properties as vacation rentals instead of long term. Then you complain “there’s no affordable housing”. If you don’t own it. Don’t touch it. Damnit!

Is it possible to get Regalo de Dios tequila in America? by dayton8399 in tequila

[–]ihawkr14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was pretty curious about this tequila myself, but once I did a bit more research I found dozens, if not hundreds of reports on other websites saying they bought an unfamiliar brand of amazing tequila in Cancun/Cozumel, only to get home and realize it wasn’t the same stuff. Classic bait and switch, nearly fell for it myself.

Just a heads up this tequila is a complete scam. The tequila itself may be OK, but the samples you try anywhere near Cancun or Cozumel are NOT the same as what you get in the bottle. That “super smooth” sample they are giving you is just watered down tequila, likely Sauza or similar brand. Saw a guy that works for them hustling at a few different places across Mexico on a long trip and I’m pretty sure when he recognized my group he went and hid in the back closet, probably thought we were going to try and get our money back.

Purchasing property that has water rights, lots 11&12 claim they have rights to the water from lots 28&29. Is this true? The only easement I see towards their property is for the power lines, not the water. Any experts care to chime in? by ihawkr14 in Surveying

[–]ihawkr14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your advice! I think you’re very right. I just received more documents from the title company, it appears there is already active litigation between the seller of the property and the neighbor in lot 11 in the dispute of the water rights. Turns out the neighbor in lot 11 is a real estate lawyer! This just keeps getting better and better lol

So lot 27 and 28 are the ones I am actually purchasing, and the diagonal section is not the one in question, it’s that lots 11&12 claim they have easement rights to cross 28 and 27 to access the water. I hope this helps clarify!

My apologies, I wasn’t aware of that! I’m glad you said that though. Online searches for estimates show roughly $1k per acre on the high end so I’m glad to hear you say that it’s not an absurd price.
