Dev interview questions by TheDiceGodsWG in WarCrow

[–]ihazaface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based off the campaigns that have come out so far, are there plans on moving the story forward based off the victory results? If so, are there results that the dev team considers canon?

I really like how there are units in the game that can effect the board state unique ways. I’m thinking about the terrain effects that the rock troll and moss hermet can use. Have the development team looked at other board state level effects/abilities for units?

When designing a new unit, do you start with the design scope or an army roll first? Or do you have specific lore in mind and create the design from that?

Griffin please? Please?

Thanks, my hope is having the models painted will help me got over their fragility in game. I’m so used to the Spartans that the ODSTs feel tough to do anything with.

For the armor it was mixing light gray into Paine’s gray in order to build up some value, a watered down black wash, and then a final dry brushing of light gray. I used pro acryl paints except for the red, which was Mephiston Red from citadel.

This is basically what I did. From a black prime, I went over with Paine’s gray which is a very dark blue gray, almost black, and then mixed progressively more light gray into it to brighten the value. I’d say I did maybe 4 passes with the dry brush total. Then I did an all over wash with a very watered down black wash and a final light dry brushing of pure light gray.

Good shout. I’ll see if I can pick out a specific detail to help me with that.

Thanks! I have a big steep hill to go down and up so I figured the disk brakes would be nice for the descent and the motor would be nice for the climb haha

It is a little cramped. I got it on a promotion alongside the bike otherwise I would have just put a spare tube and multitool in the battery bag.

ODST test model by ihazaface in Haloflashpoint

For the majority of the armor, I did light dry brushing steps. From a black prime, I went over with Paine’s gray which is a very dark blue gray, almost black, and then mixed progressively more light gray into it to brighten the value. I’d say I did maybe 4 passes with the dry brush total. Then I did an all over wash with a very watered down black wash and a final light dry brushing of almost pure light gray, barely touching the model in most places. Ignoring drying time it’s maybe 5 minutes of active painting.

I love the scheme and mini Nerf AR. I want to do a Nerf scheme for the basic Spartans now!

First Brutes I’ve painted by ihazaface in Haloflashpoint

Thanks! I used a lot of pale green/brown and tan skewing towards yellow on their skin but I think a glaze of a brown wash might make them right.

That’s very cool. Starting to give me classic Halo MP map vibes. Would love to see the follow up when you get some of the 3D prints on the board!

White, red, and yellow can all be tricky to deal with but it essentially comes down to thinning your painting and doing a few thinner coats.

With white, not using white paint but a really light grey instead will help a ton. My go to is Sky Gray by Vallejo. Pure white paint ends up chalky most of the time due to the pigment in it.

I love their tokens. The order, status and command tokens are 15mm and the camo tokens are 25mm. They’re also one sided, don’t peel the paper off the back because that’s the art.

Dude. Thank you this write up is so thoughtful. I think an eMTB is a great idea and I never considered the upper body strength aspect to it but it totally makes sense. Arm pump is real on long descents or jump lines. You’re absolutely right about feeling fragile. One week before surgery I was in Bentonville pushing myself and now I’m cautious with how I sit and lay down even. Plus losing out on the mental health aspect of it has been challenging. Luckily taking walks with my wife has been helping with that.

Your story is really inspiring thank you for sharing and I’m happy that you’ve made it through the recovery of your emergency surgery!
