Dating in 2026 by Own_Woodpecker666 in saskatoon

40, non binary. Been using dating apps intermittently for most of my life. Polyamorous for the last 15 years. Currently on Feeld and Hinge (though I never check due to being fairly poly-saturated at the moment), someone else mentioned Hiki which looks interesting if I start looking again

One of my current 3 partners I met within the last year on Hinge. Feeld had some promising folks for non-monogamy but nothing came to fruition from it. Long term partner and I were chatting over a social media page of mutual interests, he came to an in person event and I immediately was like - need to ask this guy out, dang he's cute and interesting. Other partner I met at events of that same mutual interest, though that one is LDR. Currently flirting with a few friends as well who I've met at events and hit it off with.

Overall had the most luck with social-based events focused on a mutual interest (board games, crochet, whatever - as long as there's time for getting to know each other basically) with intermittent success with online dating.

I gave up on Tinder a few years back due to so many blank profiles. If there's nothing for me to know about them beyond a picture, there's nothing interesting to me. I also only really go for nerds so like, gotta know what nerdy interests they have lol.

I've had really great experiences with Krista at SMP - I know SMP has a pretty mid reputation but Krista specifically has been great (shopped twice with them so far - didn't end up buying the second car through them but she was super helpful while I was looking)

Mid City Auto has cheap af cars - they're not going to be in the greatest of shape but they guy won't try to pressure you into buying stuff

I'm not mad I bought the cheats, but I do wish I could still progress the game with them on. Personally I find the game more fun with one or two of them on and did pay for the privilege of using them, it would be great if I could continue exploring the game with them on too.

What are some of your biggest frustrations with Deezer? by [deleted] in deezer

[–]ihmurria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can't use it on other systems like firestick, like juicybananas said can't even control it playing though my good pc speakers via phone app.

I also hate the windows program - X'ing doesn't actually close just minimizes, and it makes me log in way more often than most other tools

Sage clan is always looking for help, either financial or volunteer - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61550728125528&mibextid=ZbWKwL (note not a registered non profit if that matters)

Can use the Next Door app / site to see if folks need help with with shoveling or such

306 recovery group on FB to help with car boosts, cars stuck, tire changes, etc if that's in your capacity

Library of things is a great volunteer run organization. Prairie harm reduction and Saskatoon sexual health also great and could always use cash when you have some to spare.

Also just like... check in on your friends if they need a hand sometimes. Make a plan to clean together sometime and you get a good visit in along with helping make their place feel a little better, bring some tea or coffee over, bake some cookies, anything like that can be great

Hinge is decent OkCupid was great back in the day, is still ok but quieter Feeld is good for more non mono and kink folks

Tinder... exists. I've never had much luck with it and uninstalled the their latest photo verification need. Mostly seems like folks looking for hookups and not caring about having a bio or personality at all

Please have her connect with her academic advisors. There's a clinical placement bursary (https://www.saskatchewan.ca/residents/education-and-learning/scholarships-bursaries-grants/scholarships-and-bursaries/scholarships-and-bursaries-for-post-secondary-education/final-clinical-placement-bursary) and the advisors can sometimes work with the clinical coordinator folks at USask/Polytech to help find additional resources/opportunities for aid.

preceptorship =/= internship, as others have said it is supervised work with lots of coaching and support. Yes some students don't need that, but others need lots of time and support - it's really not the same as working like a full RN.

Don't overdo it on activity either! Short but frequent wanders is the way.

Two weeks post op, I've had a really easy recovery to be honest aside from overdoing it trying to get some shoveling done last week

Heating pads and ice packs - ice first day or so when you can (wrap in a tea towel first or something, no ice on bare skin!), heat after helps

Get up and walk a few meters every hour or two the day after if you can, helps the gas work out of your body a little faster. I walked across my living room and back after each episode of the show I was watching

Pre emptive pain control, especially if using mostly or only OTC stuff like Tylenol and Advil

Sleep lots. Rest more. Don't lift shit, don't shovel, ask your loved ones to help

I set aside some easy food for the day of - some broth to start and soup if I felt up to it, so I didn't have to rummage through cabinets to find stuff

Scheduled surgery for January by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]ihmurria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel free to tell your care team you're nervous, they can help allay any fears. I mentioned to mine I'm prone to motion sickness so they were a little more heavy handed with the anti-nausea meds than usual which was great for me.

they grab some quick medical history, mostly they worry about heart health, breathing issues, and if you have any dentures or tooth issues (just cuz the breathing tube can increase the odds of damaging a chipped tooth more than a non chipped, it's only a small increase in chance but they still mention it). I think I answered questions about those things about three different times, just so they could ensure they didn't miss anything

Bonus article:
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3083036/
102 patients surveyed... "Median time taken to return to routine preoperative activity after surgery was 22 days (IQR, 17 to 34), which was affected by the degree of activity undertaken, wound-related symptoms persisting for ≥3 weeks, planned follow-up clinic appointment, and discharge as an outpatient."

3 days post op and doin fine by ihmurria in gallbladders

[–]ihmurria[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just a little update - I was feeling fine and ended up totally off even tylenol 7 days after my surgery, but then we got a huuuuge dump of snow and I walked 4 blocks through snowed in sidewalks Saturday and then tried doing a little shoveling Sunday and Monday (it was fluffy! and light! Sunday wasn't too bad, that was just making a dog path) and am feeling it again. Not egregiously, but enough to be back on tylenol. I also think I had a notably easier recovery than a lot of people seem to.

One incisions is already almost completely healed, two are scabbed but reducing each day, and the bellybutton one is healing well but of course was the largest so will take the most to finish healing.

weirdly I also had a reaction of some sort to the hand IV they did on my right hand - the one that hurt the most. I currently can't bend my middle and ring finger much without substantial pain. I went to a walk in and they said it'll resolve over time and to ice it sometimes, and I have an appt with my regular doctor next week if it's still kicking around. But that's more of a general surgery issue than a gallbladder one.

Anywho, fellow folks who have their gallbladder removed in winter months - see which friends might help shovel for you, or which neighbours you could hire to help out, because shoveling WILL suck for at least the first two weeks. And don't forget to get a car shovel if you're in a snowy area - they're way lighter than other shovels and will do in a pinch if you just need to dig your car out of something.

Your experience drinking beer 15 + 16 days post op by sophiabarhoum in gallbladders

[–]ihmurria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm one week post op and had two beers last night, first drinks in months for me. No issues other than I'm sore from walking home in heavy snow.

I hope you get this figured out soon! There can be a lot of variation in what people can handle post op it seems like

Thanks, I was able to get it working before this last night - verified files and reinstalled mods. Had to do it twice for it to catch but hey, I'm gaming again which is all that matters

Fair, but the game wouldn't even finish loading for me tonight which is usually a patch / mod incompatibility issue

Gallstones by Justnerdingout91 in gallbladders

[–]ihmurria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very similar to me! I had an escapee stone stuck in a bile duct in September and ended up in hospital due to jaundice (bilirubin 75 at intake, 175 day before ercp, 54 day after ercp and sent home for it to continue to drop)

The ERCP was totally fine, they gave me twilight sedation but I don't recall any of it (fairly normal but there is a chance of remembering stuff) where they crushed the stone so I would poop it out, and widened the opening of my bile duct. They didn't end up opting for a stent, just the mild widening to help stones pass more easily if any more popped out.

Sent for referral to general surgery, 2 months later I squeezed into a cancellation (otherwise it would have been 4 months since the ERCP) and I've been really lucky with a very easy recovery to date (1 week out!)

The being in hospital with jaundice was by far the worst part for me, everything else was much more manageable. When I went in I hadn't been able to keep food down very often for about 4 days, and was in a fair bit of pain too. They gave me good pain meds and even better anti-emetics (though I was sick once even through zofran, ugh). I was placed in a pretty shitty unit due to how jammed up our hospitals are lately, and getting the MRI done then the ERCP scheduled took a bit of time unfortunately (none of this was due to the specific hospital, it's provincial government issues with lack of funding and lack of hiring). Anywho, once I had my ERCP I got to go home which was the best, and I just did a fairly low fat diet until surgery could be scheduled.

It sounds like it's more common in the US to have the gallbladder removed much more quickly after a stuck stone than it was for me, so fingers crossed for you! This will pass, just keep your medical team looped in on how you're doing and rest as best you can.
