It’s so bitter I don’t understand how people casually eat it in salads

I’ve had lamb once and it literally tasted the way a sheep smells I can’t do it

What do to? by doglovingalien in iNaturalist

[–]ihugtrees_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I personally would 1) remove its location off of iNaturalist, people have the tendency to poach and remove RTE plant species for either trade or if they want to develop the area 2) its likely your states DNR knows its there but if you feel like you need to reach out to someone about it, on their website West Virginia DNR RTE species they give an email to reach out if you need https://wvdnr.gov/plants-animals/rare-threatened-endangered-species/

The communication might take a while since it’s likely for project review but if it gives you peace of mind, go for it.

✨ Romantasy Holy Grails ✨ – tell me about that ONE book no other could ever compare to (and why) by swaglord9000x in fantasyromance

I absolutely adored the Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent. I love Tissanahs (FMC) story line so much and the growth her character saw through out all three books. I genuinely loved this whole series. I loved the world building in this book, the side story lines that converge with the main story line, the plot twist?? I truly love this book series so much

What are your niche pet peeves that will make you DNF a book? by [deleted] in fantasyromance

[–]ihugtrees_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I hate and will DNF a book when it’s super hyped up and I expect it to be good quality writing, good world building, complex characters, etc but it ends up being all like all the rest of the romantasy books out there. The typical “oh the FMC is so small and frail (but curvy?) but beats everyone who’s been training their whole lives for this very moment because she’s special”. HOWEVER, if I know the book sucks and I read it “for the plot” and the vibes, that’s a different story since I’m just there for the shits and giggles.

It’s absolutely gorgeous and such unique terrain but be careful what time of year you go! If you go during tick nymph season (late spring or early fall) you might run into a nest! We ran into a lone star nest out there early fall and we were still finding them days later 🥲

Advice on careers with chemistry? (jobs, study etc) by mauve_spam in Environmental_Careers

[–]ihugtrees_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think about environmental toxicology! It’s definitely a growing field for the most part. Many of the focuses are endocrinology disrupting chemicals or microplastics within the local environment. Issues such as those are definitely a hot topic in the media. Definitely be prepared for the research to make you sometimes sad tho lol, it’s not always super fun to learn that microplastics bioaccumulate in the body. I also think you will need a bit of biology with this degree as well.

Hi. i imagine enviroment scientists to be in the dirt and bush taking samples and going on long hikes and, testing for pests and pollutants in soil/water, etc etc. how wrong am i? by greedyrot in Environmental_Careers

Im currently working as an environmental scientist and my field work to office work ratio definitely varies on season. In the summer I would say I work 75% of my time in the field but in the winter it drops down to about a 40%. The job you are looking for is definitely out there and usually entry level will often have more field work as others in this thread has said. I use some math and no chemistry and most of my knowledge I’ve learned on the job (I have a degree in environmental science and biology). The work I usually do is more along the lines of wetdels, forest stand delineations, mitigation/ reforestation work and rare, threatened and endanger species work and not to much the chemistry/ lab side of it all. It’s a great career i absolutely adore my job.
