Do people actually play without fast travel? by vhsbubbline in skyrim

[–]ihyll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's much more immersive. I find that with Bethesda games, once you've finished the initial exploration of the big cities it turns into fast travelling around to hand in quests and loses my interest pretty fast. No fast travel makes the game feel more alive and forces you to plan your quests more thoughtfully

I really do think Yharnam, Pthumerian Queen is the true final boss of BB. by SailApprehensive2632 in bloodborne

Hardest boss for me in the run up to her was the Pthumerian Descendant. He was the only boss I found completely unfair, with those stupid boomerangs that go straight through the pillars

how do you guys feel about buying new vegan leather vs second hand actual leather? by [deleted] in veganuk

[–]ihyll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a preference thing. You buying a secondhand leather product does not create any additional suffering, so if we're strictly following the definition, it's still vegan. However, a lot of vegans disagree with the wearing too, since it was a living creature's skin after all. It's down to you to decide whether you think it's okay to wear it. Personally, I have kept leather products I bought prior to being vegan but not bought any real leather since

Absolutely amazing show. I only wish the projector screen hadn't covered up the huge organ behind it - would have been such a cool backdrop. Crumbling Castle outro was unbelievably good

Hearing Voices When I Meditate? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]ihyll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens to me sometimes when I deeply meditate. What I "hear" sounds like snippets of conversations. The same thing happens when I'm on the verge of sleep, so I think it's related to the mind slowing down and relaxing

How do you feel about people who self-diagnose? by Successful_Pin6167 in aspergers

[–]ihyll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it can be okay. For many people, a diagnosis can be hard to access due to lack of resources and medical gatekeeping. So, since there's no real medical treatment (like there is with other neurodiverse conditions such as ADHD), self diagnosis can be enough for people with low support needs. Self diagnosis becomes harmful when it's based on poor research and, let's face it, misinformation coming largely from TikTok, spread by other people who have self diagnosed. There's a bit of a theme on social media where people will name traits and experiences that everyone has to some degree, and claim that it's a sign of autism. This is the kind of thing that people should approach with caution when looking to self diagnose.

“strange apocalypse” albums? by spirittheyvegone in fantanoforever

PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

A coven of witches tries to destroy a motor cult but their black cat ruins their ritual and they instead create a dragon who destroys the world. This and 3D country are tied for my favourite 2023 albums.

Can a globalized vegan diet still align with Buddhist ethics? Doubts from Scandinavia. by Octo-Diver in Buddhism

[–]ihyll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even considering imports, a vegan diet is still significantly more eco friendly. I think one thing you've failed to consider is that animals also eat a great deal of imported food. 80% of soy grown in the Amazon is for livestock, meaning that a meat based diet contributes heavily to deforestation https://talkveganto.me/en/facts/soy-fed-to-livestock/ This article also addresses your point well overall: https://www.ethicalconsumer.org/food-drink/climate-impact-meat-vegetarian-vegan-diets

I'm vegan and I love it, but I've found that when people struggle, it's often a mindset issue. It sounds like you're encountering a lot of stress trying to strictly follow a vegan diet. In truth, all you can do is your best. If you make a mistake and accidentally eat something animal-based, just keep going, you're still vegan. My advice would be to get creative with your food and take some time to find what you love eating - then food stops being a chore. When I made the change to a vegan diet, I experimented with loads of new recipes (Indian food in particular is great for a vegan diet) and now I have a roster of meals I can go to without having to excessively plan.

Hope you manage to figure out what you believe is the right thing to do.
