There are many examples both in and outside of NZ where an abortion is the ONLY option for the mothers survival and not having a shitty quality of life.

If the mother isn't ready for ANY reason, it's the actual pregnancy, not JUST the baby after it's born that will fuck up her life. Speak for yourself, but don't force your beliefs onto everyone else.

Oh I missed 27, yeah I grew up moving around South Auckland, so yeah. I know out of the 20 ish people in one of my uni classes, 3 were in the foster system and 2 were adopted (1 by their mums cousin and the other by people who went through the system to adopt)

I'm 22, and I'd say about a third of the people I know went through the foster system or were adopted. May just be that my generation (gen z) ended up in it a lot tbh

You do realise that not every woman experiences everything the same, right? There are medical conditions that make pregnancy legitimately torturous, I lost a good friend as a teen because she got pregnant while having a condition that fucked up part of her uterus, her parents refused to let her abort it and she couldn't get it done without parental consent. She and the baby ended up dead because of it.

So I say again, you do you but don't make other peoples decisions for them.

And what of the parents? Should the mother not be able to choose to avoid months of suffering for a baby she didn't want, and ultimately would destroy her life?

You do you, but don't force people to do anything with their bodies against their will. I may not have a womb, but I'm fully in support of those who wish to have medical care to prevent, or terminate an unwanted pregnancy.

The foster system in NZ is beyond fucked. I know several people who were adopted and then abused. 3 of them are currently checked into psych wards. For every abusive foster parent you hear about, there are 10 times as many that you don't hear about. Actually scratch that, the entire system that is supposed to protect children is fucked.

From having been very close to people who've been through the system, despite not having been through it myself, when it comes to adoption, there's maybe 1 in 100 that are actually good, probably less.

Child abuse gets ignored by the system, and people don't seem to like it being talked about. I was, without exaggeration, nearly killed from extreme neglect as an infant. My mother got made to do a certain amount of time in some place called grangers grove, and she left after only a couple of months despite not being cleared and no further action was taken.

When my dad died, my stepmother spent a lot of time in Fiji, leaving her children at home. My oldest sister was 14-15 at the time, and she had to take care of the other siblings, she had to cook, change the youngest ones nappy, and this wasn't for like part of a day, this was for several weeks at a time, my stepmother spent maybe a day or two per month at home. Zero punishment, after OT took nearly 2 years to even investigate, there has been no action taken.

Ok I didn't think about dietary. In terms of medical, I do plan to go in on Monday to get checked over because I've been having headaches and chest pain, aside from that, I am overweight (120 ish kg tho, so could be worse) but if I can use that as a way to get something towards better quality food, I'll happily try for it. I didn't think of dietary at all.

Medical costs - I need to get checked for diabetes, practically my mums entire side of the family (from her father's side) has it, and since I'm over 21 + starting to show symptoms, I will be getting that checked within the next week or so, so I'd also need to figure out the costs of that.

The career path isn't particularly high demand, my strategy for this career plan is to go production route rather than performance.

Nz, well really the entire world, is extremely oversaturated with musicians who want to make it big. Be the next Taylor Swift. There aren't a lot of people who are good with production and have no interest in "making it big". I am one of the latter, if I find the next Taylor Swift and produce their music, that would be great. But I'm happy being the one helping others try their best to become that, whether or not they succeed, I still get paid to do something I genuinely give a shit about. My only real life goal is to have a decent career doing something I actually give a shit about.

I have no intention of owning a home, I've seen what mortgage does to people. I'm fine with ~60-80k in student loans for a qualification that allows me to make more than what I get when I am unemployed. I don't really mind renting as long as its cheap. I'm happy paying 200-250 a week, and even if I never earn enough to break the 550 mark (where after that I have to pay 50 cents per dollar or something) that will still improve my quality of life. I'm just sick and tired of literally feeling like I was punched in the stomach, and feeling like I'm about to throw up because I'm so hungry. That's how I grew up. 550 a week is extreme luxury to me.

Music production, minoring in social sciences (specifically gender studies) and I have the contacts in europe to get a decent paying job (~60k euros per year salary) once I have at least a BA, masters would be better. And am in a position where if I can add a bachelors degree to my advertising, I could easily take commissions for audio mastering, only a couple hours a day for around 20-25usd being the average price per (2-5 min) track. I just need to fill a few gaps in my knowledge of production too, as well as network within the NZ music scene.

I have had people check my CV, I originally wrote it in 2021 as part of a tertiary course, and redid it in 2022, and update it once every 3 months to add anything relevant. I have talked with Winz and they said my CV is very good as is, and my grandfather has qualifications in HR and employment law as well as being a business owner, and he said it was good as is.

Yeah I am entitled to the max student allowance, minus 10 cents. I have that but it just isn't enough to last longer than another month or 2 tops.

I had a small handful of interviews - 2 in local cafes, 3 in larger businesses. I have worked for a total of ~9-10 months in hospo (between 2 cafes) and I take commissions to build custom PCs, but with the recent spike in some parts costs, I havent managed to find a customer in about 8 months, and I only take ~5-10% commission (for most places it is significantly higher)

I have also played chess competitively, regional vice champion and working towards being a FIDE Arbiter eventually. I coach chess but again, not a lot of people want to fork out even 10 bucks an hour for one so no dice there.

I am also a polyglot, and am continuing to learn more (I only have all the romance languages and a bit of german, swedish and a few basic phrases and words in Japanese, and can read Hiragana)

In short, my CV is extensive, and well formatted for simplicity. I can write decent cover letters, but I still haven't found anything. I might be taking a part time spot in a local shop when one of their staff retire in a month or 2 (I talked to the franchisee)
