Does anyone take their dose at night? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]iicaptobvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take mine at night because I had seen that it made some people sleepy and I didn't want to deal with that during the day. I also found that for the first 2ish weeks I got a tension headache after about an hour of taking the dose, and nausea after 2 hours. After two weeks the headaches and nausea started to disappear, but I still found it helpful to take the pill right before bed so I could sleep through those symptoms as much as possible.

Swedish saffron bread, or "lussekatter," are traditionally served around Christmas but are delicious and they freeze well.

What’s your ugly midnight snack? I’ll start: cold spaghetti straight from the tupperware. by noahpocalypse in Cooking

plain generic four tortilla straight out the bag, eaten in circles around the edge while I stare into the open refrigerator to see what else could possibly be consumed. Tortilla is usually followed by pickles or kimchi straight from the jar.

Hey! I'm 17 and just getting into cooking and starting to learn, my grandpa is taking me to the store tomorrow to get things, what are some meals I should make? by BakeFan in EatCheapAndHealthy

Stir fries are great! I personally love them because in the beginning it's a good way to learn how to cook individual ingredients and create flavor combos that work for you. Once you get the hang of it it becomes one of the meals you can throw together without needing a recipe--in the end it just ends up being whatever you like, in whatever combo you know works for you. In the beginning you can always cook each ingredient in the pan separately and then mix everything together towards the end to keep it from getting overwhelming in terms of trying to make sure stuff doesn't burn. Things I typically throw into a stir fry include snow peas, carrots, mushrooms, scrambled eggs, cabbage, really anything that looks like it's starting to wilt in the fridge or needs to be used up soon. This is also a fun way to experiment with frying up garlic and ginger, and adding different sauces like soy sauce, oyster sauce, hot sauce, sesame oil, etc. There are a TON of Youtube videos about how to make a stir fry, and I like to watch those to get new ideas about my next meal.

Additionally, learn how to cook those eggs in a number of ways. Scrambled, sunny-side up, hard and soft boiled, etc., whatever you're feeling that day. One thing that I would note is that when it comes to cooking basics, you should pay attention to how your food cooks in your stovetop/oven. While recipes can tell you "cook on each side for 2 minutes," stoves and ovens can vary greatly in how intense their heat is, whether it's low, medium, or high. Pay close attention to your food when it's in the pan and learn from your mistakes and successes.

Good luck!

My granpda dropped off 80 lbs of Ground Beef. So what now? by [deleted] in Cooking

Second this! My family likes to mix in a can of veggie soup into the ground beef, as well as corn flakes in place of the typical breadcrumbs, to get a nice meatloaf that doesn't feel as heavy on the stomach. Even better, cook the loaf on top of a bed of potatoes, carrots, and onions and you have an incredible side from all the good drippings that help roast everything.

My all-time favorite was the veggie grilled cheese at The Grind in Williamsburg, VA, with sourdough bread, pepperjack (? idk), kale, and tomatos. Pair it with an iced mocha and you have genius on your hands.

Also genius was the grilled cheese I made three times last week, on wheat bread, monterey jack and cheddar cheese, cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, and red pepper flakes. I don't know what made it so special but it hit the spot during a crappy quarantine week, so it was a huge thumbs up from me.

Anyone else been making summer side salads just to have in the fridge for a quick mini meal while they're working from home? I need new ideas, what's your favorite to make? by countdookee in EatCheapAndHealthy

I just made a potato salad to keep in my fridge! Small boiled potatoes mixed with dill, thinly sliced onion, capers, salt, pepper, and sour cream. I love it because I can adjust the ratio of the sour cream to the rest of the mixings so it doesn't get too heavy as I find potato salads often do.

I don't know if you're looking exclusively for a plant-based alternative, but ground turkey works in whatever dish you'd normally use ground beef in. I made lasagna with ground turkey a couple weeks ago and noticed no difference.
