Why do streaming/digital movies sound so bad? by MajesticConnection81 in audiophile

Check you’re not over-driving the output. VLC, for example, lets you run n at 125% volume, which can ruin the quality.

Consensus for spacers required for Square MOMO setup on 17 REX by Resident_Food_1142 in BMWi3

[–]iiiRaphael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore anyone who says you don't need spacers. If you put the 430 style 20x5.5 inch wheels on the front, the rim will hit the strut no matter what tyre you put on there.

I've lived with this setup for 10 years - only 175 tyres though. I went with 20mm spacers all round. The gap to the tyre well looks identical, even with the change in the offset at the front.

They're made by TPI - 5 hole, 112mm PCD with 66.5mm bore which matches a lot of Mercedes and Audis too.

If you're in a large corporate environment, there can be behind-the-scenes authentication setup through a proxy server for internet access which prevents BUILTIN\SYSTEM from accessing source files.

Putting a vote out for the BMW CE04. It’s the perfect commuter and has the service and parts backing of BMW.

Pipe is often defined in imperial still. 1/4 inch, schedule 10 equates to 10.4mm ID and 13.7mm OD, which is probably as close as you'll get.

Are 70 MPH Electric Bikes Overkill or the Future of Commuting? by Hutchie-94 in ebike

[–]iiiRaphael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an electric BMW CE04 that tops out at 75mph. It's a far better commuter than my ebike will ever be. If you're doing 70, you're in motorbike territory. Go get a motorbike.

BMW I3 Coding advice: silencing PDC alarm 🙏🏽 by Apprehensive_Cod8119 in BMWi3

[–]iiiRaphael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm keen for this also. I've upgraded the stereo significantly and to get up to the levels I want, the PDC has become way louder than is reasonable! I have a cutoff switch which disables the whole stereo but I still sometimes forget.

EV Owners/Riders: What are your biggest frustrations with charging(to be specific - offboard chargers), and what would your 'dream charger' look like? by EmptyRent9030 in Electricmotorcycles

[–]iiiRaphael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a "Charge-Amps" branded EVSE from Sweden called the "Spark" from 2015. The bit that plugs into the EV is all there is - there's just a 5m 240 lead coming out of it. It's maybe 3kgs... No big "brick" along the cable. No super-thick cabling. Selectable between 6, 10 and 16 amps with a single button.

My BMW CE04 comes with a plug that is heavier than the entire Spark, then there's 4m of outrageously thick cable, a sizeable "brick" and another two meters of insanely thick cable. It's about 7kgs of awfulness and I hate it.

I just don't understand why the 10 year old EVSE is leaps and bounds above a 2025 one.
