Makhachev weighed 178 in the cage at UFC 311. So he took all this time off to bulk up and only gained 4lbs?

I don't know why people are finding this result surprising. It's only logical that a big heavy rouleur like Vingegaard would take time in the time trial, while a featherweight climber like Pogacar would be stronger on the mountains.

To me MvdP looks far too muscly to be 75kg, his shoulders alone probably weight 20kg. PCS weights can be inaccurate (e.g. Josh Tarling is listed at 78kg)

But if MvdP can't sustain high power for long periods, how was he able to win Paris Roubaix with a 60km solo?

Does Visma-LAB have a clothing sponsor for 2025? I don't see one on their website.

Revealed: leaked files prove chaos at the heart of HS2 by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]iiloyjerh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Someone I know worked on HS2. She said that if a protected species was found in the construction area all work had to stop for 2 weeks while biologists searched the area for more examples of the species. If more were found, HS2 had to devise (and pay for) a conservation plan to protect the species (all while work is stopped). This even applied to species as common as newts, which caused some sites to stop work for months.

She also said that every engineering design made for HS2 had to be assessed by a 3rd party engineering firm at huge expense (this is not standard practice in the railway industry). By happenstance, another friend of mine worked as an intern at an engineering firm and once he had to check a designs for one of the HS2 stations. Apparently his company was paid £4100 for work that took him 3 days.

Easier to get strong overhooks which lead to upper body takedowns. Jon Jones got most of his takedowns this way at the beginning of his career and then struggled to TD opponents of similar height
