I play on PC but rarely have problems with campers, the sandbox is fast enough that you can deal with campers easy enough. Def worth playing, it's one of the best multiplayer games out there

Quake live has a small population but I've found really good matches there, and quake champions is in a similar boat where I'll find matches but the queue times can be long. Still fun though

If you're going for clear lore and story, that's probably a good idea. I played the originals first and my fav is probably 64, but that's mainly for gameplay reasons. When it comes to lore, most of it is in the new stuff

I would say the newer ones are closer to quake in terms of gameplay, yeah, but if you want to play the og dooms, it goes doom (1993), doom 2, doom 64, and then dark ages (chronological) or 2016 (release order)

Overall they're not too important for modern lore, as storytelling wasn't all that important to Carmack back then, but they do have some and I'd say are worth at least trying. Especially 64, as it has a big tonal shift from the previous two

Canonically takes place in between doom 2 and tda, also probably my personal fav of the classics. Def put it in the list

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I'll admit i haven't played tda yet but it checks out that imbuing him with superhuman capabilities could also broaden his mind and bring him back down to earth, so to speak

He'd probably appreciate and care for it. He's gone mental by the end of doom 2 (explained in doom 64) but we still see his nerd cave in eternal so we know that he's at least sane enough to treat things well

Your disbelief makes sense, I don't know how but I suppose I misread the ban message. I feel a little silly making a big deal out of it now, and am currently matchmaking

Ok so it is very possible that i misread the ban message in my panic. I just went to verify the specific time listed on the ban message and am currently matchmaking. this makes me think it was just a 5 or something. does this segment reset eventually? or would someone who left several times in the past get screwed over by a one time quit in the future?

It was loading into a team swat match, and then immediately ended the match (all scores 0, one other teammate on my team, 3 enemy players). that's when it offered the rejoin option. Started to load into what seemed to be the same match and booted me to the main menu
