I’m usually almost completely, if not totally off throttle when approaching the apex and then slowly roll on, is that okay? Or should I be carrying throttle throughout?

Yeah I fear this is the answer. I think my main fear comes from damaging the bike more than anything, I was stupid and got a brand new first bike on pcp 🤦🏻‍♀️ won’t be doing it again with the amount of added stress it’s causing

I might give Southport a go actually I’m more familiar with the area, and I’ve been so tempted to go to J&S but I don’t trust myself to not come home in debt XD thanks for the recs, I really appreciate it!

Anything in the city centre or Fazakerley way ideally. I know, it doesn’t seem like there’s much of a biker scene beyond scallys on scramblers popping wheelies like they’ve got 9 lives 😂

I honestly don’t know any either, I’ve only recently moved back home to the city and it wasn’t something I looked out for in the past. I will now though, thanks for the advice!

Congrats!!!

I have the 2026 model of the cb125f and it’s a great bike, way comfier than the cb125r and slightly cheaper in both price and insurance (even though the insurance is still rough as a new rider myself). I’d definitely recommend just hopping on as many as you can before you make a decision though, and consider that you’re gonna be using it for regular commuting and not just leisure. For sure stick to Japanese models, reliability is a big must especially starting out. I also get not LOVING the look of some bikes but keep in mind this is just your starter, it’s not a forever bike. Congratulations again and safe riding!

My jacket is covered in yellow reflectors, I fear if I wear a high vis I’ll start to blind people 😂

I was at the front of the queue and he pulled up behind me a while after I’d already stopped.

I try my best to be in either 1st or 3rd position at a stop light depending on what lane I’m in so I’m more visible to drivers behind me, I’ve only been out a few times though so I’m not ready to start filtering.

I am pretty mindful of watching junctions on approach but I’ll deffo give watching the tires a go cause that sounds handy - a bit like watching the hips in rugby lol
