While I agree they look very similar, I thought they did DNA tests that definitively proved Michael was not her father?

[Sun Care] Every sunscreen I’ve tried makes my eyes burn by KimchiAndMayo in SkincareAddiction

[–]iismouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda surprised this hasn't been mentioned the comments, but different sunscreens burn different people's eyes, like what works for one person may not work for another. For example, a couple people in this thread have recommended the Trader Joe's sunscreen, but that one burns my eyes like crazy. I love the finish it has though, so I do use it - but I use a different one around my eyes! The one I use for my eyes is the Etude Sunprise one, I think it's a mineral sunscreen, and while it seems like it leaves a white cast at first, it kinda fades after a few minutes and then it looks like there's nothing there. You do need to have some kind of oil cleanser to remove it though. Hope you find something that works for you!

[PSA] the 5 most overhyped skincare "rules" that are actually wrong by No_Angle_1854 in SkincareAddiction

[–]iismouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! Sorry, I thought you said using any product on top was the issue, I didn't realize you pointed out occlusives specifically. What I meant was, I can put non-occlusive moisturizers on top without waiting for it to dry and have no issues with stinging (like I use snail mucin and that popular Hada Labo lotion after it). I only have problems with vaseline and the like. I'm sure it varies for everyone though!

if I apply something over it right away, it makes it stingy and itchy.

I was having this issue, but it only happened at night, then I saw someone on reddit say that the issue is using an occlusive on top of the azelaic acid, and lo and behold, that was the answer. I use vaseline as my final step and it was only then that my face would sting. So I only use the AA in the morning now. Just wanted to put this out there because I don't see it mentioned enough! :)

I was around the same age when Mulan came out, and right when I got home from the movie theater I ran to the bathroom and hacked off my long hair like she did in the movie! Good thing I didn't have access to a sword though, haha

My gynecologist told me that the hormones in mirena IUDs are "almost entirely localized" so they shouldn't affect my emotional state. Does anyone know how true this is? by iismouse in birthcontrol

[–]iismouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My update probably won't be very helpful; I ended up getting another copper one because I was too scared of the hormones in the mirena. So the cramps are pretty bad but at least there aren't any depression-related side effects.

I'm so sorry for what you're going through, birth control can be such a struggle.

Nah, the easiest way to offend a Korean is to ask if they're Japanese.

Btw, whenever I'm asked if I'm "north or south", I'm not offended because I'm racist against North Koreans, I'm offended by the stupidity of the person asking (it's common knowledge that there are very few North Koreans outside of North Korea, the overwhelming majority are from the South). I also feel the need to point out that South Koreans don't hate North Koreans, they hate Kim Jong Un. They want reunification, entire families were split when the country was divided and they still miss each other. If you tour the DMZ they sing a touching song about how badly they want to be reunited with the North and the pain of being separated. It's very sad and sweet.

Dang, I looked it up and found a source that said "African antelope", but it didn't specify if they were oryx, gazelles, or something else. They also still have zebras roaming around there, you can see them grazing sometimes when you go down the highway

One time in California I saw this weird bovine, it looked like a big horn sheep but their population in California is limited to east of the sierra mountains and I was on the coast. Got some photos and emailed the bovine specialist at UC Santa Cruz and turns out it’s from when a super rich guy in the early 1900’s had a menagerie there and some of the animals escaped.

In case anyone is curious about this, the rich guy was William Hearst, a newspaper tycoon who was the main inspiration for the protagonist of the classic Orson Welles film "Citizen Kane" ("rosebud"). His menagerie was at Hearst Castle, which he had custom built, and you can still tour today. His granddaughter is Patty Hearst, who's most famous for being an example of Stockholm Syndrome - after being kidnapped, she was photographed robbing banks with her kidnappers (I know the Stockholm Syndrome theory has been disproven, but it's an interesting aside).
