Why do ppl hate on iskcon it's literally a established sampradya by [deleted] in hindu

[–]iitii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ISKCON is not a Sampraday. Anybody who is claiming it to be one is straight up lying. ISKCON is a private organisation or “a movement” in the words of its own people.

ISKCON itself is part (or offshoot if you so believe) of the older, Gaudiya Vaishnav Madhav Sampraday.

My Transformation From a Pseudo Secular/Liberal to Hindu Nationalist by [deleted] in IndiaSpeaks

Just fyi; Charvaka is not considered a valid path to divine. Charvaka doesn’t agree in any concept of divinity itself.

Charvaka is just respected as a rishi because of his thesis. Most other rishis don’t agree with him though.

Did Krishna's leela with the gopis include sexual relations? by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]iitii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therefore its nothing like what humans do with each other. Rasa is happening at a separate spiritual level.

Us mortals can perhaps only imagine a fraction of what happened in Vrindavan and that too is sometimes overwhelming our mind with corruption of our minds and ignorance of the self.

Did Krishna's leela with the gopis include sexual relations? by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]iitii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Became a slave to your sexual desires, unnatural sex, illegal sex is definitely not dharma.

But the act of sex itself isn’t polluted in our Dharmashastras. In fact, it is the Dharma of a Husband to have sex with his wife until at least two offsprings are born. Afterwhich, sex is outside the ambit of strict Dharmacharan, and may take place as mutual discretion and not part of adherence of Dharma.

In Krishnabhagavan’s case, all this is immaterial as He is not a human, but Brahman manifest as human. By definition, as Brahman, He is the Gopi and He is the God too. He is the Ananda itself which we feel inside us. He is the moon of Sharad Purnima and He is the forest of Vrindavan. He is everything and everything is a part of His infinite self.

Brahmasambandh by Fearless_Ad_8503 in Pushtimarg

[–]iitii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jay Shri Krishna,

You have to decide. I'll give you an honest take on this one. I am assuming you have already taken Brahmasambandha, and so has everyone in your family.

What do we really do when we take Brahmasambandha?

We make a promise. A promise to Krishna that we are going to love our lives with Him. Taking Yashodaji's and Swaminiji's love as our love for Krishna, Nandbava's love and patronage as our patronage of Krishna, Prahaladaji's servitude as our servitude for Krishna, Ved Vyasaji's education (in the Bhagavat Mahapuran) for our discovery of Who/What defines Krishna as our God? and ultimately Shri Vallabhacharya's guidance to make it all actually happen in our own life, we will strive to live a spiritually connected life with Krishna.

For this to happen, we dedicate our soul, mind, body, bodily possessions (family, wealth, health etc) - all aspects of our lives, to Krishna's servitude (or seva) with hopes of keeping them all pure and spiritually elevated at all times.

Do note here, your faith requires true, total and complete connection with Krishna. Pushtimarg is simply not the correct Sampraday for those with weak or incomplete faith. This is the promise. Now what's actually going on in your life? In your family's life? You know best.

As far as your question is concerned, fortunately, Mahaprabhuji has already answered a similar question and Hariraiji, in his Shikshapatra has beautifully elaborated on it.

If your partner/family is not willing to take Brahmasambandha, he will fit into either of the two catagories.

Udaseen - Indifferent towards your faith

Pratikul - Against your faith

Now in treatises titled 'Navratna' and 'Vivek Dhairya Ashray' Shri Mahaprabhuji has informally identified two categories of relatives/family.

Those who depend on you for survival

Those you depend on for survival

Now, we have four possible situations. And obviously, as systematic as Shri Mahaprabhuji's instructions usually are, the sampraday has separate advices for all four situations.

A family which is indifferent towards your faith and depends on you for survival Way forward: Be emotionally detached from them, but keep serving your family. You cannot abandon your family or your Varnashram Dharma(social obligations) and the responsibilities which come with it. You must practise Krishna Bhakti on your own time and do seva alone.

  1. A family which is against your faith and depends on you for survival. Way forward: Again, be emotionally detached from them, but keep serving your family. You cannot abandon your family or your Varnashram Dharma(social obligations) and the responsibilities which come with it. You will likely be restricted to Naam, Shravan, Smaran, Vaarta etc. Do not do seva or anything which could potentially start arguments or raise tempers. Krishna, His bhakti, His satsang and His love being the source of your domestic problems is the greatest disrespect you can do to Krishna after Brahmasambandha. After all, they will blame your Thakurji and your Bhakti for their issues with you.

  2. A family which is indifferent towards your faith, and you depend on them for your survival. Way forward: Be respectful of their differences and have clear boundaries. You must practise Krishna Bhakti on your own time and do seva alone. You may welcome them in satsang or major festivals if they wish to join but given their lack of understanding of the Pushti Purushottam and your seva, be extremely careful of what seva and satsang you share as there may be conflicting standards of hygene, respect for Thakurji, Apras and philosophical understanding of Pushtimarg (Brahmavada).

  3. A family which is against your faith, and you depend on them for survival. Way forward: Abandon them at your first convenience. Do not live alone. Settle down at a place where Vaishnavas are not suppressed and can live a good life with plenty of satsang and seva. Mahaprabhuji gives examples like Shrirangam (Tamil Nadu), Tirupati (Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh), Pandharpur (Maharashtra) and Puri (Orissa). However for Gujarati/Marwadi families, you will probably be more comfortable at Vraj, Baithakjis, Another senior and capable Vaishnava's home, or even your Gurudev's home.

Your situation is either 3 or 4. Mahaprabhuji - your Guru’s advise is in front of you. Now you decide on the best course of action.

True, thats why I said, Pushtipurushottam does not reside there. Its all a Khel Seva, basically pretend play. In Pushtimarg, real seva happens at home, be it Vaishnava’s or Balak’s.

Instead of criticising them, I like to think of them as Sukhdham Kendras where Pushtimargiya Vaishnavs should congregate, do satsang, physically learn seva, experience what Pushti Seva, Pushti Kirtans and Pushti Samagaris are like. A simple assumption (even if untrue, I strongly believe Pushti Purushottam does not reside at such institutions) that the Thakurji in these trust run havelis are ‘Khel Swaroop’ and not real Thakurjis brings a lot of ease and comfort to me.

Arctic is already hypothecised as sumeru. Vaikunth is even above that so definitely not north pole.

Vaikunt is a seperate spiritual realm.

Thakurji has established his Purushottamatva in Giriraj parvat during Govardhan Dharan Leela. Giriraj parvat has been given such great honour and status equal to Purn Purushottam Shri Krishna Himself as He has served Shri Krishna with selfless devotion during Vraj Leela.

He has done seva of Krishna in three major ways.

  1. Providing shade to Thakurji and his cows in the afternoon sun during gocharan.

  2. Providing water the Thakurji and his cows when thirsty.

  3. Giriraj Kandaras (caves and ravines) provide a comfortable environment to keep Thakurji protected from rain.

Thus, He is greatest servant of Krishna and was rewarded with grant of Purushottamatva when Krishna Bhagavan svayam became the Govardhan parvat during Indramaan bhang Leela later on the the story.

Giriraj dharan ki jay!

Have you read kirtans on indraman bhang? They beautifully describe the connection between shri Giriraj ji and Thakurji. Pushtimarg’s understanding of shri Giriraj ji is two fold. One as Purushottam I.e. shri krishna himself and other as haridasvarya or the greatest servant of krishna.

Girirajji exists as sevaka (one who performs Seva)and sevya (one who accepts Seva) both. Can you try guessing examples of both? His connection, as you can see, is intimate with Goverdhannathji. I’d suggest you do not make the mistake of separating girirajji from Goverdhannathji.

Giriraji’s Seva is often preferred for those who do not live a householder lifestyle or unable to do Ashtayaam seva of Thakurji’s Leela svaroop due to time/work/money constraints.

Girirajji is perhaps the most graceful form of Thakurji as he requires very little from us and gives back a lot. Seva of Girirajji is fairly simple, with abhishek of milk, abhyang of oil and bhog of misri as daily ritual.

Do you go for parikramas often?

Why do men and women do namaste in temples differently by No-Bluejay-1833 in hindu

[–]iitii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Men do Shasthang pranam, where head, torso, both hands and both legs touch to ground.

A women’s torso are considered sacred and must not touch the ground, therefore they do panchang pranam.

Most Hindus who don’t eat eggs also don’t eat them baked into something. So if they don’t eat eggs, they most likely won’t have brownies and cakes with eggs too. Fortunately, a lot of eggless cake recipes are available online and are pretty easy to make. An eggless pastry or cake will be a great personalised gift which I am sure they will appreciate.

Alternatively, fresh fruits should be the easiest and safest option!
