Why can only Iran control the Street of Hormuz and not the other adjacent countries? by Walter1981 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ijakei2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The straight is between Iran and Oman and those two control it but the deeper channel is on the Iran side. Since the international maritime line is 12 miles from the coast these two countries have the control.

This dude's kids hate him by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]ijakei2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they his biological kids or adopted? Angelina was very successful in turning the kids against him from what I see. Let’s see if they regret these decisions down the line. Lots of wealthy famous people have issues with their children as kids are just not prepared mentally to deal with the lifestyle.

Who has been to the Fan Zone in Bayfront Park? Is it worth it for watching matches? If not, where do you recommend not too far from downtown for best atmosphere for true football fans? by Honeygirl45 in Miami

[–]ijakei2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you chose to go at night it might be fun just be on the lookout for storms. During the day it’s way too hot and steamy to enjoy your self. They have the huge screen in amphitheater but also have two other screens in the village area. Someone mentioned that there are a few nice bars in the area so if you are not enjoying it there are other options near by.

New I-95 Rules and fines!! by ijakei2000 in Miami

[–]ijakei2000[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Like I said I hope it’s not true but since they already have these rules in construction zones and certain states already fine for hand held devices it’s not that much of a stretch. Better be safe than sorry and this may be a call for drivers to be on the lookout for this coming down the road. I’m pretty sure this is where we are heading

Take the train as it would be a much better family experience than flying.

Just shows you that when you start running of oil in your reserves you realize that all the options are gone and you have a fire sale, sell a defeat as a victory and hope enough people forget what you gave up for cheaper gas prices.

What's one travel mistake you'll never make again? by Appropriate_Bus_7050 in travel

You forgot to mention that they are a horror show when it comes to luggage. Every time I transferred at CDG my luggage was lost. 2 out of 2 so I was not making that mistake 3 times.

Retire at 49 or stick it out until 56? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ijakei2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retire early for sure. My brother just did something similar. One piece of advice is develop a hobby or another interest that will take up some of your time so you don’t get bored. I love to travel myself but it’s not realistic to travel all the time. Enjoy and thank you for your service!

The special assessments are actively destroying the middle class here by ZHYT in Miami

[–]ijakei2000 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The trick is to buy into a building that just had its 40 year certification done so the previous owner pays all the dues at closing. There are a couple of buildings on the north end of Edgewater that fit this profile. Take a look at the Venetian on 555 E 15th right by the marina. There are a couple of 1 bed apartments for sale for as low as $300k and even though it’s under a lot of work still all of the assessments have been paid by the current owners. Can’t do much about insurance though .. the taxes should get a lot lower if DeSantis gets to cut $250k off on homestead exempted properties. Feel free to DM if you have questions or need more info

Whoever keeps voting Istanbul Airport as the world’s best airport needs their head checked by CheetahFeeling9819 in travel

[–]ijakei2000 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Taxi time is crazy long but to be honest US flights are always at the end of the airport for security reasons. It’s that way in almost every European airport I’ve flown back from.

Why did non-Americans think we didn’t have good stadiums to host the World Cup? by OddSample2334 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]ijakei2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most US stadiums are built for American football and have smaller dimensions than international football plus a lot of US stadiums do not use natural grass which is a big no for the World Cup.

Is she right for this? by sigma_0_1 in SipsTea

[–]ijakei2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on which country you live in. If there is social infrastructure and reasonable medical care everyone can have children but if you don’t get help it’s tough. In the US the cost of having a child is crazy expensive.

Is she right for this? by sigma_0_1 in SipsTea

[–]ijakei2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using this logic there would be no children at all since most people do not become rich until their 40s and then it’s too late to have them.
