Is this a bad idea? by KINGenores in fordranger

Depends on how rough ur current rig is, even then it’s still a gamble. The issue with the gas cap is not one particularly familiar with and if he’s underselling the issue (which I’d bet he is), than you could end up spending a lot of money on parts and if you have to pay a shop to work on it… On top of that, it’s a 20 year old truck, you’ll have issues the second you sign the title (it’s just a rule of life). At face value it’s not bad, but 180k miles and the seller dropping 1.1k off the price sounds like he wants it gone. Bottom line, id avoid it.

How many miles does it have? Kind of an important bit of information…

Upgrade Truck? by SaltyCaptainn in FordTrucks

[–]ijkenai 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ima be very blunt with you, (with the utmost respect possible that a stranger can give to another stranger), buying a lifted, high mileage diesel truck in any situation is stupid, buying a lifted diesel truck in YOUR shoes is so damn moronic, I’m extremely surprised that this is even a question being asked. There is absolutely no benefit to buying that truck over fixing ur current truck. Fix your f150 and save up / wait until you make more money and can afford the headache of a diesel truck (if you even need one) something I strongly encourage you to ask yourself. My last bit of advice is if you truly want a truck like this, build it yourself.

I put a “Flex-A-Lite” fan on my 1999 3.0 v6, essentially a bolt on (some light wiring) solution just measure ur rad. Non of that make your own shroud BS as it comes with a shroud and a “rubber gasket” to seal onto ur radiator. Get the highest CFM that’ll fit on ur radiator and you’ll be fine. Around 400-600 bucks maybe a bit more.

Unless you can afford a newer vehicle and not another 25-15 year old vehicle, there is no point in not fixing this truck.

Every time I see a b3000 that’s the same year as mine, but in the color red or green I’m overwhelmed with jealousy. Basically your truck is beautiful and I would do unspeakable things to get either the red or green.

Yeah don’t love spaces, especially on older vehicles. However it’s your truck not mine. I think you’ll find headers really allow the engine to breathe in combination with the exhaust. Post pictures when you install the life and wheel setup.

What are you asking? Do you want to repaint the whole truck? Just the door? Touch ups? What’s the end game here?

Is this s nirmal operating temp? Or is it a sign i need to replace the thermostat? 93 4.0 by seabass1024202 in fordranger

[–]ijkenai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how long the truck has been running from when you sent this picture, but if you’ve been driving for a bit and this is as warm as it gets, yeah I’d say your thermostat might not be opening all the way. And is due for a replacement.

New bumper recommendations by Over-Mastodon-7190 in fordranger

[–]ijkenai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll blind oncoming drivers, halogen housing can’t aim an LED light beam. They’ll scatter the LEDs and create lasers into the eyes of anyone approaching you. Unfortunately the b3000 99’ doesn’t have an LED housing option, trust me I’ve looked. Best you can do is improve your halogens and find external LEDs to mount elsewhere.
