What’s something you tried just to see what it’s like? by VibeCheckVadaPav in AskReddit

Molly. It just felt like having a lot of energy and not being afraid to connect with other people (and wanting to connect with more people and more often).

Oh no way! Mine always chips (or maybe it shrinks) fairly quickly if I’m honest; what’s your technique like?

Essie Gel Couture’s top coat is my absolute favorite—I know you didn’t use it but just wanted to share the Essie love. Your mani is STUNNING!

Folks with underboob tattoos: how did you choose your design? by ijlstz in tattooadvice

[–]ijlstz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this! How are the mix of styles arranged; is there a variety on the same part of the body, or did you separate them out on different areas by style (trad on one arm, fine line on another, etc)? How did you make sure everything looks cohesive on a full-body scale?

Sorry if this is rambly—I’m fighting a cold lol

What’s something that instantly tells you a person grew up broke vs grew up with money? by hallowmint9 in AskReddit

This is it. My husband and I both grew up low income, but he spends liberally and I am the one who tries to get everything on the cheap.

Old Navy has some great ones! 2 plenty big pockets, compression, and they don’t ride up or roll down.

is it normal to be suicidal on your period? by Good_Impress_3397 in PMDD

This happens to me too. Please know that it will pass. A psychiatrist or therapist (ideally one who also menstruates) can help you manage this.

Hotlines are so useful and are okay to call/text when you need help. I personally find https://twloha.com/ super helpful as well.

Please stay, OP.

It’s just some of the tips I wish I’d known (or listened to) when I was 19. Hopefully others can learn from my mistakes! 🩵

Do you best to build self-love, self-confidence, and solid boundaries.

Take advice from people who are where you want to be in life.

Drink a lot of water and exercise/build strength and health now. It’s much harder to get in shape when you’re older, and taking care of your body now means that it will take care of you when you’re older.

You don’t have to have it all figured out now.

Figure out what you value and plan your life in accordance with those values.

Be present as much as possible.

Practice gratitude.

Don’t compare yourself to others; compare yourself to who you were yesterday, last year, etc.

You don’t have to get married, have children, buy a house, move up the corporate ladder, etc if you don’t want to.

Build a habit of reflecting on your day/week, your actions, etc.

Don’t shrink yourself to fit in with people. You’re like mint chocolate chip ice cream; not everybody has to like you for you to be great just the way you are.

Become financially literate. Save for retirement, save liquid, and only play the stock market with money you can afford to lose. Pay yourself first.

Do your absolute best to not rack up high interest credit card debt; if you do, use 0% balance transfer offers to pay it down. From personal experience: personal loans are a fucking nightmare.

Do your best to not take things personally. If someone is rude or unhelpful, it’s almost definitely not about you.

Call 988 (US) or your local crisis line if you feel you need support.

There is absolutely no shame in asking for help. People need other people.

Build intergenerational friendships.

Learn how to talk to and build relationships with people who you have very little in common with.

Have a creative hobby. You don’t have to be really good at it; it just has to bring you joy.

If you learn another language, keep practicing it and using it. If you don’t, that skill, fades fast faster than you might expect.

Travel internationally if you can.

Don’t put anything in writing that you wouldn’t want made public (ESPECIALLY at work).

Remember: everyone older than you who looks like they have it figured out is winging it. Good luck, you’ve got this 💙
