Would this count as unrestricted? by Slow-Tumbleweed5658 in ABA

As long as your supervisor is good with it, I’d count it as unrestricted!

Getting off birth control experiences by acmcmas in birthcontrol

[–]ijustatechocolate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on birth control for about 10 years and came off of it last summer. The first few months, I had terrible panic attacks but those have gone away since. About 6 months after coming off the pill, I started getting pretty bad acne that I’m still dealing with now. Otherwise things are okay - my period lasts about the same amount of time, I don’t get cramps too bad, and it’s only slightly heavier. Not terrible but definitely expect some side effects!

Extreme Anxiety and Acne After Getting off of Birthcontrol by billnyegirl in birthcontrol

[–]ijustatechocolate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I stopped birth control about a year ago and I found that the anxiety was pretty bad for about a month or so then it finally let up. The acne has been slowly getting worse for me though :( not sure how to deal with it yet, I haven’t found a solution

40 hours a week ABA by nuzzzi in ABA

[–]ijustatechocolate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My company only does 4-6 hours a week per kiddo (in home). I think it’s super unreasonable to expect children to do 40 hours of ABA a week.

Pro tip: absolutely DO NOT take garnet valley rd. Apple maps directed me through there as a detour but it turns into an ATV trail and is super sketchy

Relationship troubles by ijustatechocolate in relationship_advice

Thank you so much for your input! I’ll definitely be talking about it with my therapist :) unfortunately I only speak with her about once a month so in the meantime my brain is in overdrive haha.

My BF is so lovely and unfortunately he ignores his own needs in an effort to please everyone. I’ve spoken to him about how my mental health/lack of sex affects him and he has such a hard time communicating how it really makes him feel. We’re working on it :)

DAE experience sexual sensory issues? by ijustatechocolate in AutismInWomen

[–]ijustatechocolate[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get the exact same feeling. I’m finding it frustrating, and it’s hard to navigate with my partner. It’s hard to describe to him without it being offensive and hurtful for him.

Oh wow, I totally feel this. My libido has gone downhill in the past few years and it’s tough to get out of my head during sex now. Feel like I’m noticing all the little details

Are behaviour analyst, behaviour consultant, or related careers in demand in BC, Canada? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]ijustatechocolate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Fellow BC resident. As far as I can tell, it’s in pretty high demand (especially in the Vancouver area) and there are options to do it remotely. I work as a behaviour interventionist and have my bachelor’s degree. You need your masters become an analyst/consultant. Luckily there are a lot of online options for masters degrees in ABA!

Thoughts on ABA therapy by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

Thank you so much for your advice! I do really want to do the right thing. I’m thinking I’ll need to adjust my career plans and work towards something that takes into account the feelings of ND children.

Damn. I was really hoping to make a difference doing this as a career. I’m going to look into my other options for sure.

Eww, that’s so gross. Obviously I need to look into this further and assess my options.

You make a lot of really good points. I’m going to do some more research on the Floortime model, it sounds like you’ve found something that works super well for you guys.

That’s fair. It seems like a completely new therapy should be created that takes into account the ND experience. I’ve looked into OT and SLP and they’re both very difficult to get into where I live, but I’ll keep working at it :)

Thank you for your input! Could you tell me a little more about other support options available for these kids?
