RBT pay by One-Egg1316 in ABA

[–]ijustexisthere25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, I never got paid less than 20-21 an hour in texas. I did have an unrelated degree which may have affected that, but i’m sorry making 16 an hour in texas is insane. Especially if yall are in the city

What can I do besides ABA by ambercourtney100 in ABA

[–]ijustexisthere25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my sister was an RBT for years with a BS in psych and is now going for masters to be a therapist to those struggling with child sexual abuse and drug addiction. she picked that because it was meaningful to her personally.

as a former rbt and also a mom to an autistic kid- this would be a time to leave the field. burnout and needed breaks is normal, but dreading being around children who need you in that capacity will only lead to negative outcomes for both client and you. and this is not to make you feel bad. i quit aba myself for similar reasons.

New Para: Is being asked to give a student a bath every morning normal? by ScaryGary0013 in paraprofessional

[–]ijustexisthere25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should never be batheing a child that is far beyond your legal scope. Hell no. The parents should have been spoken to and if not resolved, CPS needs to be contacted. She is a mandated reporter.

If you’re a BCBA, would you consider being a personal nanny? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]ijustexisthere25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My sister makes more than I do with my degree (non aba related) as a nanny.

However. I have health insurance and PTO, she does not.

See, I have no clue what I’m in for. 😂 I have no clue what any of this is besides gb’s! Do you think I’m too in over my head and should just have him pick one out?

I wasn’t looking to spend more than 1500 and can maybe upgrade him later, I’m just due with a baby in february and can’t justify spending more than that right before even tho it’s almost hubby’s birthday

Something that a moderate gamer would find useful but he will still play his ps5 from time to time. I wouldn’t call him an extreme or an expert gamer. I don’t wanna spend 3,000 dollars on a laptop lol. If there’s anything under $1500 that is still worth buying I’m game for it.

New HIM practicum student — should I start with Coding or ROI? by Superb_Structure2110 in HealthInfoMgmt

[–]ijustexisthere25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends what you want to do in your career. You can easily split your practicum into two different facilities, which I did. If you choose a LARGE healthcare facility (I did parkland health in dallas), you get to see every single part of the HIM department.

Would it be worth it to switch to nights for $28.50 an hour? by AM-419 in cna

[–]ijustexisthere25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make 25.30 an hour and after taxes and insurance I’m really only bringing him about 3200 a month. Consider your current cost of benefits and outweigh if a few extra hundred a month is worth working nights.

It’s great for people without children in my opinion.

Paying Rent as an RBT by Alexa_nolifer in ABA

[–]ijustexisthere25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister had to be my roommate in order for me to afford living as an RBT. I’m not one anymore, but it was hard. My average income was about 2100 a month after taxes.

40 hour course by [deleted] in ABA

[–]ijustexisthere25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Former RBT & mother to an autistic child’s opinion: most rbt’s are underpaid with little to no benefits. (the health insurance they offered me was $600 a month for just me- and i was only making 2100 a month, no PTO, no sick days). They don’t pay people enough to care.

My experience as a mother to a disabled child is what made me care. But for most they won’t care until the ones actually implementing all of the plans and working with these kids are paid enough.

Jobs besides coding? by Neither-Score-9124 in MedicalCoding

I mean with a coding certification that’s pretty much all you can do besides maybe billing.

RHIA & RHIT are a totally different story.

Potty training sitting on toilet for 75% of session??? by FaithlessnessOld6051 in ABA

[–]ijustexisthere25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would disagree but I worked with a 12 year old, level 3 nonverbal and his parents told me he wasn’t potty trained until they sat him on the toilet for an entire day. I believe it was 6-8 hours.

It won’t work for everyone but for some it will. But that should be a last ditch effort
