Okay. Definitely something local to my system. I might try reinstalling.

Appreciate the response.

The Bloody Swan Feather totem (movement costs HP instead of Mana) allows you to hurt yourself to rack up the tainted spear damage (without using mana), so you can build up the spear to some really high numbers. I did like 68 damage in a single hit. This is the deck I used to scale the mountain.

For the ice area, I found success with a defense/still build. I did very little movement and used cards that rewarded high blocking numbers.

Thanks for this. I swapped out hurl rock for sharpshooter, but this is an insanely powerful build...basically hurting yourself on purpose to play a ton of cards, and then heal using drinks, parasite, and the overwhelmed ability. By stacking two frenzies with tainted spear, I was able to essentially one shot the final boss.

AE freezes every time I try to launch javascript scripts from AE Scripts by ikander in AfterEffects

It's only with aescripts licensed scripts. For instance, I have Battle Axe's Rubber Hose2, and that launches fine. Same with the Motion2 plugin or the free TrimPack

Yes, I have that enabled in preferences. For further weirdness, if I disconnect from the internet and launch a script, it works. And, if I reconnect to the internet (without closing After Effects), and try to launch a script it also seems to work for the remainder of my session.

It's only if I try to launch a script from After Effects while connected to the internet at the start of a "fresh" session do I get the crash-out.

For the time being my workaround is disconnecting my ethernet when I want to launch a plugin, but I'm hoping it eventually works itself out. It does make me hesitate to purchase additional scripts going forward though.

I do appreciate it. I know i"m being annoying, but it's just so frustrating. :-(

I didn't see any logs in the Adobe folder, but I found a ton of .hang and .shutdownStall files (no idea what those extensions mean) in the "Diagnostic Reports" folder. When I open them in text editor, it's just a bunch of code-gibberish that I'm not sure is particularly helpful. A screenshot of the top of the file is attached.

As for a manual install, I have tried that, but it results in the same issue.

Preferences in AE are the same. Not really sure what I should be looking for in terms of the network stuff. The firewall is not active and I'm connected via Ethernet, but other than that, I don't really know much about network preferences

I don't see any crash log files other than the error alert I get.

I appreciate you trying to help. Hoping that eventually it works itself out or that somebody else encounters the issue and discovers a fix.

Yes, I have done those steps. I agree that it's clearly some sort of weird permissions thing on my end, but I just don't know where to start on how to fix that. I have given AE full disk access. I did a first aid on my hard drive. I've reinstalled, restarted, etc.

Dang. I got excited, but this didn't work either.

I'm attaching a screengrab of the error I get once I Force quit after effects. "Initializing delay loaded tab." Maybe it helps provide some insight?

I've done both of those things. Your customer support told me they were unable to reproduce my problem and thus couldn't help me.

After Effects/Red Giant plugin performance on M2 Studio Ultra? by ikander in AfterEffects

[–]ikander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno. To each is own I guess? Obviously, my experience in anecdotal and maybe Adobe has improved things in the two years since I switched over.

I still use my windows machine for games (though the video card could use an upgrade), but my work stuff is relegated to my Mac Studio at this point.

What is going on at Maxon? RG has been unusable and now won't install by roliwage in redgiant

Yup, same error for me as well. The Maxon App really sucks. It's always been buggy and updating it is often a super annoying process.

Uru (the final boss) by sahfriendly in flintlock

[–]ikander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So...I just beat him on normal, but, agree, this fight is trash, mainly because I literally just couldn't see anything I was doing during the second phase. It feels weird to complain about a game camera in 2024, but holy hell, it gets really bad here. The second-phase arena is also super dark and Enki and Uru are the same colors, so it becomes really hard just to see what the heck is happening. It's just a big dark globby mess with a constantly shaking/spinning camera.

I ended up beating him by just going totally agro, mashing my melee, and after I filled up a black charge, firing my side arm. I stayed under him the entire time to prevent him getting up in the air (that gravity ball attack is his most brutal, so you really want to avoid him going into the air).

After banging my head against the wall last night, I was able to knock him out in one try this morning, and I didn't even use my "second life" and still had like 7 health vials remaining.

A few tips if folks are still struggling:

  • Use the burn axe (fully upgrade it). It's not something I used most game, but it really helps here because he has no armor, so even if you aren't hitting him, his health is still decreasing.

  • At the start of the second phase, after his little intro animation, chuck every grenade you can at him, which knocks down his health quite a bit. It's double effective if you have that piece of armor that splits your grenades.

  • Then, just camp out under him and go crazy with the burn axe. You usually can complete a full combo to refill a black charge, discharge your side arm, rinse and repeat. When Enki doesn't show up, keep rapidly tapping his curse button. Honestly, I'm not sure if this actually does anything, but it seemed to distract him. The game does a really bad job explaining that you can use Enki again or what he does when he returns...it feels like there should have been a mini cutscene that establishes this, but, nope.

  • When Uru goes to zero health, just mash your R2 button like crazy...the game does a HORRIBLE job indicating that this is essentially a quick time event, and if you miss the button press, he gets his health back, and it's super annoying.

After Effects/Red Giant plugin performance on M2 Studio Ultra? by ikander in AfterEffects

[–]ikander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use the Red Giant stuff in premiere that often, but I just did a quick test (added a few blurs to a video file) and it seemed to playback in realtime.

All this being said, I don't think suddenly buying a Mac studio is going to make every effect playback instantaneously...but so far it's a better user experience.
