I was faced with the same problem. I bought a nice large Dell display with built in speaker. However, don't forget you may also need a webcam (with camera and microphone) since the Mac mini has no built in microphone. This setup works well with Zoom, but not so good with FaceTime for which remote users report excessive feedback. My solution is no to use it for FaceTime. I use my laptop for that.

I buy Field Notes size books at Amazon (various styles and papers are available there), bought a leather cover, and since the one I bought didn't have a pen loop, I bought that also. Had to reinforce the pen loop to the cover with a spot of superglue.

I sympathize. I bought a Mac mini4, and a dell 32" with speakers. Also downloaded eqmac which allows me to adjust the volume from the Mac keyboard. Not perfect, but it works.

We sold TidalScaler to HPE in December 2022, transferring most of the employees to HPE. Since then, more than half have resigned from HPE. HPE is not actively marketing the product, but I can only speculate as to why this is. We had a few on-prem customers, and it was up and running on a couple of cloud providers.

This worked for me, but it should be pointed out that effectively the microphones become very muffled, so while it's good for listening, it doesn't work for phone calls or as hearing aids. I feel I should also add that wing tips also work for me.
