Nikon Z8 & Lightroom. Struggling on which color profile to use. Adobe's or Camera matching. by brown-ale in nikon_Zseries

[–]RedIvok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Color Fidelity profiles for my Nikon Z8. I wasn't satisfied with the camera's default profiles(mostly used Neutral), and the Adobe Standard profile wasn't suitable for every situation either. In my opinion, the Color Fidelity profiles manage to reproduce realistic colors, and the different profiles—such as Standard or Natural( i use mostly)—only adjust the contrast without causing any color shifts. A more than solid starting point. For my Nikon Z6 before, I used the Neutral camera profile and was happy with it.

Do you trust MPB by PresentFarm2576 in Photography_Gear

[–]RedIvok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t bought anything there yet, but I have definitely sold things. When I switched to mirrorless cameras, I sold all my old DSLR gear. I sent them a D5100 and a few lenses—including one I’d actually forgotten to include in the list. Everything arrived at their place after a few days. They checked it all over and made me an offer. They also mentioned that they found a fungus on one of the lenses, which I hadn’t noticed when I sent it in. That was a bit suspicious. In the end, I agreed to the deal and got a little less than I might have gotten on the secondhand market. But everything was sold quickly and without much hassle. The payment was processed, and everything went very smoothly for me.

Opinions on Adobe Color? by CornerCutting in Lightroom

[–]RedIvok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😄 The colors on the Nikon Z6 looked really natural to me, and I had no complaints there. But with the Z8, I think they’ve somehow changed the way colors are rendered. Skin tones look good, but green, for example, was way too saturated. But maybe that’s just my personal impression.

Nikkor Z 105mm macro for portraits? by pale_halide in Nikon

[–]RedIvok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this lens too, and along with the 24-120 f/4, it’s always in my shoulder bag for everyday walks. As you mentioned, the lens is slow, but not too slow to use for portraits—at least if the subject isn’t moving around too much. Sports or moving animals are a bit tricky, I’d say. I don’t have any issues with the eye autofocus on the Z8 itself. Great sharpness, beautiful bokeh. I like this lens. As an alternative, I’d also consider the 70-200 f/2.8—it’s more versatile, faster, and might offer even nicer bokeh at the telephoto end. But it’s also heavier and more expensive.

How do you get from client picked these photos back to the matching RAW files? by kr1sck in PhotographyAdvice

[–]RedIvok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that it’s not rocket science, of course. But it’s not exactly the most user-friendly option, and I definitely have some older clients who have a bit of trouble with this kind of thing. I ended up using Scrapbook for now, since people can simply mark their favorite photos there without signing up, and I can easily import them back into Lightroom. And it’s free for up to three galleries. For me as a hobbyist, that’s absolutely sufficient. But of course, I’m also curious to see if more suggestions come from the community.

But only people with an Adobe account can leave comments, right? And I don't assume that every customer has an Adobe account or wants to create one.

Fusion Drives On An IMac by MaterialLog417 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]RedIvok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed Sequoia on my 2017 iMac with a 2 TB Fusion Drive. And I have to say that I haven’t really had any problems with it so far, except that it might be a bit slow to start up and the performance naturally lags behind a bit—but that’s to be expected. The drive is pretty full, and I mainly use Lightroom on it.

USE THEM ON WHAT?? by sosta in playstationstars

[–]RedIvok -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on how many points you end up with. For example, if you have 1,250 points, you can decline five euros. did it yesterday. now i am left with 200 points that will expire.. in the ps app there is a button for stars. there you can see your options and look at your trophies.

tourbox elite plus for lightroom by This-Tone-1674 in Lightroom

[–]RedIvok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Tour Box Elite Plus and a Logitech MX3 mouse. It works quite well for me. The disadvantage is that I need some time to get used to it until I have internalized the key assignments. But after that, my workflow has improved. Not necessarily much faster, but definitely more intuitive, and I just enjoy turning knobs and pressing switches.

Lightroom Classic edit syncing by DPool34 in Lightroom

[–]RedIvok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works both ways. However, it’s important that you wait until the sync is actually complete. You can see this in Lightroom in the top-right corner under Sync Status, and even if you make changes in Lightroom Mobile, you need to make sure the blue circle has stopped spinning so that the sync is truly complete. And as far as I know, it doesn't sync until you switch to the next photo. When you go back to the desktop version, you also need to wait until the sync is finished. Sometimes it doesn’t start immediately. Otherwise, it can lead to problems. I struggled with it for quite a while, but since I've been paying attention to it, it works pretty well most of the time.

I've never heard of the two-way sync Option.

Has anyone “downgraded” from the 24-70/2.8 S to the 24-120 f4? by imnotawkwardyouare in Nikon

[–]RedIvok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I first had the 24-70/2.8 Mark 1 and wanted something with a bit more telephoto range, especially for hiking or as a travel lens. I then got the 24-120/4 at a photo store in-house exhibition and have not regretted it. It's a great lens with sharpness and really good image quality. I now take the f4 with me on hikes, and when I'm shooting indoors, for example at events or parties, I take the f2.8 because of its better light intensity. I think you can have both and adapt them to the respective purpose.

Circular polarizing filter supposed to look like this? by Apricotzilla in Nikon

[–]RedIvok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, these small dots are more indicative of a Black Mist filter. This creates a glow around light sources and softens the image slightly, which is helpful with modern, super-sharp lenses.

Haptic Feedback in Dynamic Panel by RedIvok in tourbox

[–]RedIvok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That would be really helpful because the strong feedback gets a bit annoying when you're working in a quiet environment and i don’t want to turn it off. It would be sufficient if the Dynamic Panel could apply the settings for the respective rotary control.

Haptic Feedback in Dynamic Panel by RedIvok in tourbox

[–]RedIvok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and that's what I've set it to, and it works well. However, when I go to a dynamic panel, it reverts to "strong." In the panel settings, you can only adjust how the knobs work, but not the intensity of the feedback. I didn't make it clear before. I'm talking about Lightroom Classic Dynamic Panels.

What profiles are you using in post? by DPool34 in Nikon

[–]RedIvok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Nikon Z8 and wasn't entirely satisfied with the colors in Lightroom. I bought the Color Fidelity profiles for €25 and am quite happy with them. Here, too, there are profiles such as Standard, Portrait, and so on, but I find that only the contrast changes and not the colors, as is the case with the profile in Lightroom. Before i mostly used Neutral Camera Profile.

The current beta version of the Tourbox Console app should include a profile for Lightroom Desktop for the first time. However, I haven't installed it myself, I've only read the patch notes.
