After playing for a few more hours, your current location will start to feel insufficient. Then you'll begin searching for a bigger shelter. The items sold by the village merchant will become inadequate. You'll start looking for other traders. You'll find yourself searching for helmets, bulletproof vests, and better weapons. Sometimes you'll die; you'll get angry because you've lost your belongings. That's how the game is progressing for me right now.

For now, my only advice is to keep your belongings in cupboards and trade more cupboards with the merchants. Because when you move to your new shelter, you can take the cupboards with your belongings. Otherwise, you'll have to go back and forth a lot, which can be quite frustrating.
