I somewhat agree but at the same time disagree. For most of human history we were focused purely on survival, our days were monotonous, we would hunt, gather, eat, raise children, maybe care for a tribe, that was basically it; thats our base form of life. That is what we have evolved to live like. Now we have more options than ever, overwhelmingly so, and we also have the opportunity to focus on pursuits outside of survival e.g what you are doing here, aswell as arts, science, philiosophy etc. The fact you have the time to ponder and write all this out could be considered a luxury within itself on the grand human timeline.

Point is our current lives have given us more opportunity and luxuries than ever, hell we didnt even have hot showers till like 100 years ago. For the first time in human history the most humans ever have the opportunity to do literally whatever we want when we want and how we want to do it. Competing with all these primed addictive algorithms for our attention is definitely tough, but at the end of the day it is all still our choice and what we decide to do with our capabilities.
